AN: Sorry for any confusion. Alec, Isabelle, and Jace are still Robert's children. He is still Alec and Izzy's bio dad and Jace's adoptive dad. If there is anything else you'd like me to clear up please just ask.

Magnus POV

I consider myself an intelligent individual. I know how to read people, very well. It's only the ones that find a place in my heart that I sometimes have a difficult time reading, and I'm fine with that. My relationships wouldn't have been half as interesting if I could have read them all like an open book.

Considering all that, I was truly shocked by what had just happened. It was hard to wrap my head around it all. Robert isn't really Robert. He killed a mundane girl and her child. He loved a mundane girl. He ran from The Clave.

"How could you just kill an innocent woman and her child like that? Like some monster! And you claim to have loved her. You're disgusting." Surprisingly it was Simon who spoke. Robert glared at him. The amount of hatred you could see in his eyes was stronger than the day he came to the flat.

He stood up, shaking in anger, "Don't you dare tell me I didn't love her! I was prepared to give up my entire life, everything I've ever known, for her! I did give up everything!"

Jace scoffed at Robert's attempt to defend himself. "You can't defend what you've done. The lies you've told and things you've done are unforgivable." Robert looked at Jace and recoiled in shock. His anger rapidly dissipated, shock and hurt taking over. I looked over at Alec, he still hasn't said anything.

He hasn't screamed or cried or anything. I squeezed the hand I was holding to let him know that I was still here, but he didn't squeeze back.

Isabelle stepped forward, "Dad..." Robert's head snaps towards her, and I could tell that he was on the brink of tears. "Please.. this isn't true is it?"

He walked toward her, but she put her hand up, "Stay away from me."

He shook his head, "Isabelle I- You don't understand. None of you understand what I was going through. What Emma was going through. No matter how far we ran she would always be in danger. A life on the run is no life at all. Especially not a life for a child. I was trying to-"

"It doesn't matter what you were trying to do! You killed her! Do you not understand that? She had a family, she had friends, and you took her from them! So stop trying to justify your actions!"

I whipped my head to the side, Alec was beyond furious. I've never seen him like that. It was... unexpected.

Damien chuckled, "So now that you know everything, I am willing to let you walk out of here, unharmed."

Jace glared at him and reached for his seraph blade, "We're not going anywhere, not without Robert."

Damien walked forward, pulling his gigantic sword from its sheath, and gave Jace a wicked smile, "If you want him, you'll have to go through me."

The sword glowed, green fire surrounding it. "One slice from this here blade and you're dead in minutes. Not even the great Jace Lightwood can survive this."

Jace smiled, "Herondale." Clary was about to step forward but Alec beat her to it. Just as Jace was about to swing at Damien Alec grabbed his arm. He looked down at Alec's hand and then up to his face, confusion clear in his eyes.

"Take Robert and everyone else and get out of here."

My eyes widened at his words, before Jace could say anything I grabbed Alec's shoulders and turned him toward me, "What the hell are you talking about?"

Alec smiled at me, "I got this one Mags, you guys get out of here. I'll meet you outside."

I shook my head, "No, I'm not leaving you. You could get hurt, or worse. I won't leave you here." He sighed before looking at everyone else, "Go. I got this. Get out of here."

No one moved. Alec shared a long look with Jace, and eventually, Jace nodded at him. "He needs to do this. Alone." Jace said. Jace grabbed a hold of Robert and dragged him out of the room, the others soon reluctantly following.

"Don't get too comfortable Nightshade. After I kill your son and his boy toy I'm coming for you." Alec turned back toward me with pleading eyes.

"Please go with them Mags." I shook my head, not noticing the tears falling, "We're in this together."

Damien chuckled. "Enough of this foolishness!" Then he lunged.
