Chapter Three- Let the Games Begin

~~

Ella shifted comfortably on the grass as she heard Noah grunt. "I said I could help," Ella reminded the stubborn boy who insisted on her not helping so he could set up the surprise. He even banished her to sit in the grass away from him.

"Done!" Noah shouted out in joy, he looked over at Ella who shifted then froze. He smiled as she cleared her throat.

"Can I look?" She asked unsure.

"Well, I'm not gonna enjoy this all by myself." Noah glanced back at his masterpiece, then up to the sky that was already darkening. The sun was set beyond the mountains, and the stars were soon to make their appearance.

Ella stood up to her feet, brushing herself off before slowly turning around and facing Noah. A wave of confusion washed over her as she looked from him to the small pool filled with dozens of blankets and pillows.

"What is-"

"Come here," Noah beckoned her, reaching out his hand to gesture Ella over. She stumbled forward, advancing towards him and halting once she was by his side.

She remained silent as she looked from him to the pool. "I don't mean to crush your expectations, but I'm not like other girls. I'm not going-"

Noah sighed, closing his eyes. "I'm not making a move, Bug." He reopened his eyes, and Ella felt more at ease. "We're here to watch the stars," he added on, leaving her side and jumping into the comfy, plush pool and throwing his hands behind his head in a comfortable position.

Ella watched him for a second, taking in the moment before she decided to join him. She attempted to step in carefully, instead her foot miscalculated it's support and she stumbled in, instantly glad for the fluffy blanket that cushioned her fall.

"Smooth," Noah smirked, his eyes remaining on the sky as she squirmed to find a comfortable position.

Ella finally snuggled up to the furry blanket and let her eyes admire the darkening sky above them. A sweet silence swept over them like a promising thunderstorm and Ella was immediately grateful for that stray paper.

"If you could go back in time what would you do?" Ella broke the silence, shifting onto her side to look at Noah, he glanced over at her from the corner of his eye.

Noah controlled his breathing as she stared deeply into his eyes, her question hanging in the air. Noah cleared his throat, trying to find the words. He let his eyes look back up at the sky. "Anything?" He asked.

"Anything," she insisted, he could feel her gaze on him and he considered turning to face her.

He decided against it as his mind reeled for a satisfying answer to tell her. Moments seem to pass as she waited for him to offer up some kind of information about himself.

Ella rethought the situation and realized he probably wouldn't tell her anything personal, it's not like they knew each other.

"I would go back in time and," he paused, obviously still thinking. A smirk slid onto his features and he turned his head to face her. "Find you sooner,"

Ella shook her head, a pleased smile unwillingly coming to her face. "Good one, Monkey-man." She turned once more onto her back and looked up at the sky.

"What would you do?" Noah asked, he shifted next to her, but Ella was too focused on the stars.

"I would," she thought it over in her head. All the mistakes she could make right, or redo. A smile returned to her face. "Come up with better strategies to avoid you." Ella turned her head, and watched Noah let out a small chuckle.
