*rachel's pov*
I walked into the coffee shop and saw Asher sitting at a corner table.
"Hey" I said as I walked over to him. I gave him a quick kiss before I sat down. We had been dating for a little over a month now. He asked me to be his girlfriend after our second date and I couldn't think of a reason why not.
"Hey how is it going." He asked. I was really excited to tell him my news that I had just gotten.
"Well there is this girl who is like fresh out of college and she has a screen play, well it's supposed to be really really good and she wants like new talent to work on it so most of the people she is picking to work with is pretty young so, she asked me to direct!" I smiled a ginormous smile just talking about it. When I set out to come to Los Angeles, I wanted to be a director but one of the number one rules of the film industry is 'Take any job you can. It doesn't matter if it's what you actually want to do.' So that was the main reason I had been a production assistant for the past year or so.
After I dropped out of college I knew that I had to move out here if I really wanted to be a good director. And I was finally getting my chance.
"What? That's amazing!" Asher matched my enthusiasm. That was one thing I liked about him a lot. He was always happy for me.
"Like this screenplay was looked at by a bunch of independent production companies and some of them are like fighting for it. It's supposed to be great Sundance material and I get to direct it!" I was practically vibrating in my seat.
"That really is amazing. Come here." He opened his arms so I changed from the opposite side of the booth to his side. He wrapped his arm around my shoulder and I leaned my head on his. In all honesty some times when I was with him there felt like there was something missing. Like there was a little gap. I never felt like he was holding me. It was like just a being was holding me and it happened to look like Asher. I guess that was my weird way of saying that I knew I didn't love him. Usually with in a month of dating you are supposed to at least consider love, and I didn't want to.
I wish I could love him. Really I wished. But we were very different. He was a very extroverted person and I always liked being by myself. He liked going out to parties when I absolutely hated them. There were more, like the fact that he wants to eventually settle down in a house in like Wisconsin in the suburbs, and have like 6 kids, and coach the soccer team. Meanwhile I was debating on whether or not I even ever wanted to get married.
Despite our differences, he made me smile. He made me feel loved. I just wish I could give the same to him.
I walked home after my date. I opened the door and saw Arielle and Jasper sitting on the couch watching movies, like they did every Friday night.
"Hey Jarielle." I always called them by their ship name whenever they were stuck together which was more often than you would think.
"Hey" they said in unison.
Arielle's vibrant pink hair was kind of squished against Jasper's torso and he had his arm over hers. It looked uncomfortable but they seemed to be enjoying it.
"Hey guys I got some news." I took off my sweater that helped combat against the chilly October air.
"What?" Arielle reached for the remote and paused the movie. From what I could tell they were watching Steele Magnolias.
"So you know that girl who has that indie film screenplay?" I asked.
"Yah the one that people are dying to have made?" She asked. Jasper was listening as well. Since he worked for an Internet site, it always helped him to have intel on new things happening.
"Well she picked me to direct!" I almost yelled.
"What? Oh my god!" Arielle sprung off the couch and ran over to give me a huge hug. She knew I hated hugs but she hugged me all the time to 'break me of my unnatural hate'.
"And I also may have told her where she could find a fresh young make up artist." I said to her while she was still hugging me. She let go and looked at me in surprise. Like me, Arielle was 21 and this screenwriter girl wanted almost everyone working on the project, to be under 27. It was weirdly specific but she said she wanted to give young Hollywood a chance since it took her forever to get one.
"No way" Arielle exclaimed.
"I wouldn't lie about that! She is going to call you tomorrow."
"Yes!" Arielle went to hug Jasper. "Money and makeup. Money and makeup. Money and make up." She chanted a couple of times while dancing in the living room. She hadn't had a makeup job since our last movie, which is probably why she was so excited.
I had had enough excitement for one day so I retired to my room and began to check Twitter.
Of course Zayn tweeted.

@zaynmalik: just writing

Usually his tweets were pretty cryptic so I never bothered to read into them. I closed out of Twitter and decided to watch YouTube videos until I fell asleep.
