*zayn's pov*
"Are you ready?" I called out to Mel.
"Don't rush me!" She yelled out from my bathroom.
"Ok well it's starting soon." I didn't want to be late to this event. It was the Young Artist Gala that they had every year. I was rather excited to go since I loved speaking to other people who had such different art fields. There were going to be artists, writers, musicians, filmmakers. Rachel told me she wanted to be a filmmaker.
"Ok I'm ready." Melanie interrupted my thoughts.
She walked down the stairs wearing a floor length gold gown. She looked, well, she was a model so most anything looked good on her. Most of the time our relationship was just a working one. She stayed at my place occasionally to make it look like we spent a lot of time together when we really always stayed in separate rooms. It was essential for us to make appearances as a couple like this gala.
I smoothed out my tux and stood up.
The car ride there was absolutely silent. I didn't really have anything to say to her. I didn't really want to say anything to her.
Upon arrival into the venue we were handed glasses of sparkling water. I'm assumed it was because of the possible too young people for the drinking age in America.
I surveyed the venue. It was very white marbled polished on most of the surfaces. There was a live band and a fountain in the middle of the place. It was very beautiful.
I recognized a few people from the industry and a couple of artists.
After talking with a couple of people Mel began to take over some of the conversations that I had started and began to make them all about her. I decided to let her loose and take a break for a minute.
I found a hallway which I was assuming had the restroom in it. I started to walk toward the men's restroom but I was stopped short when a door swung open and hit me square in the nose.
