"Hola señora! Muy Buenos Dias!" She hurried into the virtual Spanish room.
"Hola Alice. "
She sat through 45 minutes of excruciatingly boring Spanish work, and finally it was time to leave.
"Alice. Wait a second.."
"...Sí señora." She stayed behind as the others, including Bri, Lucas, and Bella, filed out.
"What's wrong chica?"
"Uh. Nothing señora, Soy bien."
"Really?"
"Sí-"
"Alice yo Miro triste en tu ojos.*" Alice blinked back the flood of tears trying to force their way into sight. Señora must have noticed, because she said nothing more, but just embraced the child.
*I look at sad in your eyes
Alice made her way to English.
"What was that about?" Lucas scoffed as she took her seat behind him in Ms.Joyce's room.
"Nothing. Señora just wanted to congratulate me on my excellence," Even she laughed at this one.
"Whatever," Lucas wasn't buying it, but he wasn't in the mood to fight. He had a character analysis to finish by the end of third period.
"I finished that yesterday," said Bella peering over his shoulder.
"Yeah so did I," said Alice, fingering for her book in her satchel.
Addison walked by, "Alice, You should really start wearing make-up."
"Are you saying she's ugly?" Bella sneered.
"No, Bella she's just saying I-"
"Jeez. We're friends. It's cool. No need to get all huffy." Addison sat down across the room with the rest of the crew.
"Some friends..." Alice muttered under her breath.
"Hey," Bella put her hand on Alice's, for a moment, time stopped, and all was calm. "Just ignore them, okay?"
"Okay."
'God,' Alice thought, 'How does she do that?'
