The Pym Residence

Ellie drove back to her father's house as soon as Darren had let her go for the day. Her mind was buzzing with thoughts going in every direction. Yet her most important question was Why can't he trust me?

"Out of all people..." She mumbled, turning into the driveway. Ellie unlocked the front door and went into her father's mini-lab he held in the basement.

"I think our first move should be calling the Avengers." She heard Scott's voice echo as she walked lightly down the stairs. Ellie heard her father sigh and walk around.

"I spent half my trying to keep this technology out of the hands of a Stark. I'm sure as hell I'm not going to hand deliver it to one now." She stood by the doorway and listened to their conversation. Calling the Avengers wouldn't be the best option, she agreed. Fury didn't want that to happen if things broke out. As much as she wanted Steve, Clint, Natasha, and even Tony to be on her side it was against her mission objectives.

"This isn't cute technology like the Iron Man suit! This could change the texture of reality!" Hank continued. "Besides, they're probably too busy dropping cities out of the sky." Her eyes widened. Did he really just pull that card?

"Okay, then why don't you just send the ants?" Scott asked. Was he that stupid? They're ants, not people!

"Scott, they are ants! Ants... They can do a lot of things, but they still need a leader." She rolled her eyes as her father began to persuade Scott. "Somebody who can infiltrate a place that's designed to prevent infiltration."

"Hank, I'm a thief. Alright, I mean, I'm a good thief, but this is insane." Now, she thought, would be a good time to step in.

"He's right Hank, and you know it." Ellie walked into the room and rolled out the blueprints of Pym Technologies. "You've seen the footage, you know what Darren is capable of. I was against using him when we had months. Now we barely have a few weeks." She looked over to Scott. "I'm wearing the suit."

"Absolutely not!"

"I know the facility inside and out. I know how Darren thinks, and I know this mission better than anybody here." Ellie was doing her best to stay calm and collected. She didn't want to act as demeaning as she was right now to Scott, but putting the suit in his hands without the proper training or practice was a danger to the whole operation. It was better to act cold like she did with Christopher (well, before she knew he was Clint) than to be normal, and act like herself like when she was with Steve.

"We need you close to Cross, otherwise this mission cannot work."

"We don't have time to screw around!" She was getting pretty fed up with her father at this point. Scott was pacing around rather awkwardly, not sure whether or not to speak up or walk out.

"Evelyn, please - listen to me please - "

"Scott's a criminal! I'm your daughter!"

"No!" Hank had raised his voice to a shout, causing Ellie to flinch. Her mouth was slightly ajar and she looked at him with utter confusion and distrust. Hank could barely look her in the eyes, so he turned around and walked to his seat.

Ellie's eyes met Scott's as he looked at her. She smiled sarcastically as her father sat down and sighed. She knew Scott was clearly uncomfortable, shifting his standing position as if he was imposing rightful power of the suit. She walked out and barely made it without tears slipping down her cheeks. Ellie leaned against the wall and tried her best to muffle the small sniffles and the sounds of her crying. Why couldn't she just be trusted? She breathed in and out, trying to calm herself down. Don't get emotional.

"Evelyn's right, Hank." She heard Scott's voice echo through the silence of the basement and hallway. "I'm not your guy. Why don't you wear the suit?" Hank sighed.

"You think I don't want to? I can't. I spent years wearing it. It took a toll on me." She heard Scott sit down. "You're our only option, Scott."

There was a small silence before Hank continued. "Before... Evelyn lost her mother, she used to look at me like I was the greatest man in the world. Now, she looks at me, and it's disappointment." Of course all Ellie saw was disappointment, Hank barely even raised her after her mother died. Maybe if he had payed attention to her, things would be better. Maybe if Hank would tell her the truth, things would be better. Maybe if he trusted her, things would be better. Now she'll also look at him with the look of betrayal in her eyes.

"It's too late for me." Damn right it was too late to apologize. "But not for you. This is your chance to earn that look in your daughter's eyes. To become the hero she already thinks you are. It's not about saving our world, it's about saving theirs."

"Damn, that was a good speech." It was terrible, and not even a speech.

"Scott, I need you to be the Ant-Man."

"When do I begin?"

"I'm sure Evelyn will help get you settled in and physically trained in combat. She's quite good, I hear." Ellie couldn't take anymore of Hank's crap, and walked up to her old room and lay down in her bed. She took out her StarkPhone and called Natasha, who hopefully wasn't too busy.

"Ells?"

"Hey Nat." Ellie's voice unexpectedly cracked.

"Is everything okay?" Nat didn't know any specific details of what Ellie was doing in California, other than working for Darren and the fact that she knew about the terrible father-daughter relationship she hand with Hank.

"No." Natasha sighed.

"It's Hank, isn't it? Unless you've suddenly developed a crush on Darren and he broke your heart?" Ellie laughed.

"I just don't understand why he can't trust me with some things. I'm his daughter, Nat."

"Ells, have you ever considered that maybe he doesn't want you to get hurt?"

"I highly doubt that." Ellie replied rather bitterly. "If he never wanted me to get hurt, he maybe should've done a better job with parenting."

"Oh come on, stop being such a downer. Have you found any guys?"

"I don't have time - "

"No, you just don't want to, stop making excuses."

"I'm not making - fine! Maybe one guy but I'm barely interested, okay?"

"Okay, okay, but it's not like I wasn't shipping you with anyone anyways."

"Then how are things going with Bruce?"

"We're... Working on it. It's not too easy."

"I know how it feels."

Ellie didn't know Scott was outside her door.

Guys I am so so so so so so so so so so so so sorry I didn't update for a month, and when I do, the chapter is short and terrible! Please understand that I feel overloaded mentally as well as the fact that my AP Euro History teacher thinks that assigning ten page packets for notes nearly every week is fun.

I want you all to know I am trying my upmost best to write this whenever I have free time on the weekends. I also try to update my Marvel Imagines & Preferences book more often.

Thank you so much for the 4.4k! I love all of you so much :) If you guys can get to 5k, I might change the cover ;)

Keep voting, commenting, sharing, and following, and REQUESTS ARE OPEN for my Marvel Imagines book.

Love always, Crys
