For @OC_mistress
"I'm not that special." Y/N mumbled, looking into the fire. The Tri-Wizard Tournament was coming to a close, and she began to realize... The people who participated in the tournament were truly great; maybe even inspiring.
I'm just your average, third year Slytherin student. She thought, sadness slowly washing over her. Nothing more, but certainly something less.
The days went by, and Y/N continued to feel this way. She certainly didn't know that a certain someone thought the complete opposite.
During lunch, she sat down at the end of the Slytherin table, alone, while she poked and prodded at her food. Her attention was pulled away from her chicken to see Harry and Ron in front of her, talking nervously to one another. "Hello." She mumbled quietly, catching the two boys by surprise.
"H-Hi Y/N." Harry stammered. Ron just stared at turned as red as his hair. "You wouldn't mind if we, er, sat down with you?" She smiled slightly and nodded her head, relief washing over the two boys.
Draco wasn't happy that they were talking to Y/N, and once they sat down he felt like he was going to explode. Draco was just within listening distance, so he could eavesdrop without them noticing.
"How are you?" Harry asked, nervously, not wanting to mess up. At such a simple question, Draco already wanted to strangle the scar-headed boy. Those two shouldn't be sitting with her. Draco thought, stabbing his salad furiously. I should be there.
Why aren't I?
"Y-You look very nice t-today." Ron stammered, his face looking as if it were on fire. Y/N blushed and looked down at her lap, embarrassed. "N-Not that you don't look good everyday!" Ron exclaimed, more nervous than ever. "Y-You always look n-nice." Y/N giggled, still blushing, and thanked Ron for the compliment.
Draco's salad was now splattered everywhere.
Before the two boys could anger Draco anymore, Y/N quickly picked up her books and nodded her head towards the boys. "Sorry," she said. "I have to, erm, study and such. Bye!" And with that, she fled from the awkward situation to the Slytherin Common room.
She said the password and walked in there, throwing her books to the side and sinking into the farthest corner.
I just don't get it. She thought. I'm not special. I'm quite ordinary. Why do those two boys waste their time with me?
She quickly wiped a few stray tears away, even though it was useless since more were bound to come.
Draco doesn't think I am special. She thought, the expected tears rolling down her cheeks. That's why he doesn't like me. Which is reasonable. I'm just... Ordinary.
Y/N wasn't sure how much time passed, it felt like an eternity but at the same time it felt like thirty seconds. She suddenly felt an arm around her shoulder, and she jumped back in surprise. "Oh... Hello Draco." She sighed in relief, trying to discretely wipe the tears away.
"Why are you crying?" He asked, full of concern.
"I'm not crying." She said hurriedly, desperately trying to lie.
"Yes," he began, wiping tears from Y/N's cheeks, "yes you are."
She groaned slightly before shrugging. "I'm just feeling lousy." She admitted, hoping that was enough. It wasn't, though.
"Well, why are you feeling lousy?"
Y/N took a deep breath, and let it all out slowly. "I'm nothing." She stated. "It's just... everyone at this school has something special about them. I'm just so ordinary. I'm certainly nothing compared to the Tri-Wizard competitors."
Draco was shocked. This certainly wasn't true to him. "I think you're wonderful!" He exclaimed, causing Y/N's eyes to widen the slightest bit. "You're fantastic, absolutely fantastic! You're so kind, smart, hilarious, beautiful in every way, you're per-" Draco let his mouth hang open, realizing what he just confessed.
"-fect." He finished nervously, his normally pale face turning scarlet.
"You really think that?" Y/N asked, wiping the remaining tears in her sleeve and smiling.
"Yeah..." Draco mumbled, scratching the back of his neck and avoiding eye contact. She immediately regained confidence, and decided to do the bravest thing she's ever done.
Kiss him.
She leaned forward and gently placed her lips on his, causing Draco to jump back in surprise, before smirking and deepening the kiss.
Sadly, they pulled away for inconvenient air, smiling like idiots.
"Do you feel special now?"
"Absolutely."
