Ahvienda Rothell looked at these two surprised. They were quick to show her who they were.
At least I went into the right room. That could have been real awkward.
Nina was inside getting her clothes back on while Max did the same, after he tried to kick Ahvienda out. At least momentarily. She obliged and went outside. Max was the first one out and wore the red coat and dark jeans. She could see the faint outline of the katanas inside his jacket, but other's wouldn't be too smart too see it.
"So, Ahvienda, how did you find us?" Max said, coming off angry.
"First off, you will call me Ahvie. No more Ahvienda." She said this as she took off the wall and stood to face him, but kept her distance. "And I followed you here after you picked through that drone. Caught your sent from a-" Ahvie was cut off by the sound of sirens pulling into the motel. Four cruisers pulled in with their sirens going off.
Max didn't waste a second. Max broke down the door and got to Nina, who was putting on her jacket and getting ready to go. And Ahvie was right behind him, but she didn't stop. Ahvie ran straight through the wall, putting all of her new found strength behind her and opening the back of the motel as a second door way. "Well that wasn't necessary at all!" Max yelled at her over he sound of the sirens. Instead of waiting for Nina, Max got all of her stuff in one hand and picked her up in the other.
"Really?!" Nina yelled at Max's back. But she quickly apologised when she saw the police run through the door with their guns pointed at them. They were surprised to see the large hole in the wall, and they hesitated before opening fire. Max looked to Ahvie and yelled at her with so much force she wanted to go into a corner. "Protect her and get her out of here! I will find you later."
Then Max unsheathed his katanas and ran for them, but Nina began to run after him. Naturally, Ahvie was faster, and simply picked up Ahvie and ran for the short growth of trees that was ahead of them. And they disappeared in the wild that now welcomed them with open arms.
Chapter 12
Ahvie wished she could some how help the sad Nina sitting in the tree. When Ahvie asked what she was doing up there, she simply said, "Heights welcome me, while strength welcomes you." Ahvie didn't know what else to say, so she walked away and let her have her space.
But Ahvie came back, and this time she joined her in the tree. "I don't know what you're worried about. The guy seems like he can handle himself better when he isn't protecting you. But he is still protecting you. When he told me to protect you, there was an anger in his voice that every man should back down to. No matter their strength."
"You must not understand then." Nina replied slowly."It doesn't matter their strength, or their anger. You still worry. You may try to comfort yourself with the fact that you know he might come back. But that doesn't stop you from worrying. It doesn't stop your heart from breaking a little bit more every second, every minute their gone." That is when Ahvie tried no more.
"You could stay here and wait for, him, but I'm going to get food, I'll be back. And keep your knives on hand." With that, Ahvie hopped off the tree and left, with the sad behind her. But it was a long time before she would return, and Nina knew it.
Chapter 13
Nina was still in the tree, when Ahvie returned, surprisingly happy. Ahvie held a bag of delicious foods in her hand and a drink tray in the other. Nina didn't even look back when Ahvie started devouring her cheeseburger and fries.
