This just had to happen. Why is this happening? Out of all the days why today?
Okay, let me start from the beginning and explain what happened. It was starting to get late and Laila wanted to leave because she hated driving at night; the only problem though is even if she wanted to drive she couldn't. Her stupid car decided to have a flat tire today. The good news is she has triple A, the bad news is Ella had to call her brother to pick us all up.
Now you know why I am annoyed?
You see I had a good reason to not go anywhere today; the odds are never in my favor.
I don't know if it showed in my face that I was ticked off, because Yasmin kept giving me these weird glances."Can I help you with something?" I asked. I couldn't handle her glances anymore.
"What's wrong with your face? It's all scrunched up and weird looking?" was Yasmin's reply.
"Oh gee, thanks. Just what a girl wants to here."
"But seriously, what's wrong? You were just happy a minute ago," she said, ignoring my rudeness.
"There is a flat tire; there is nothing happy about that," I told her making sure my face shows no emotions what so ever.
"I know you. Something like this won't change your mood, and I know you are hiding something from me."
"Its nothing," I lied. It was a white lie, because it really is nothing. I am just acting like this for no reason.
She must have not believed me because she raises up her eye brow.
"Honest," I said, adding a smile.
"Okay then," was her only reply.
After she walked away Ella walked up to me with a serious look on her face, 'Ya Allah, this can't be good.'
"What's up?" I asked.
"DUH, The sky. Everyone knows that," that was so corny, and old.
"Was I supposed to laugh?"
"No, I was supposed to ask you something," she said all serious again.
"This can't be good."
"What happened between you and Noah the day you were released from the hospital?"
I did not see that coming.
"What makes you think something happened?"
"Amal, I am serious you and Noah have been acting all weird these past few days. What aren't you telling me?"
What does she mean Noah was acting all weird? Does he regret talking to me? I wasn't the one that came up to him, in fact, it was the opposite. Should I tell her what happened that day? After all she is my best friend and best friends tell each other everything, right?
I closed my eyes and started to breath in and out of my mouth ready to tell her what happened, but before I could say anything the sound of a car honking stopped me. When I opened my eyes to see who this car belonged to I saw that it was Noah's car. I felt goosebumps coming out everywhere all over my body, and when my eyes met his eyes I was pretty sure my face was as red as a pepper.
I quickly looked at Ella and told her, "I promise I will tell you later; now is not a good time."
"Okay you promised," Ella replied.
"I know."
When we all got into the car I made sure to sit as far away from Noah and the rare view mirror; I really didn't want to have my face turn pink every time our eyes meet. So, in the end I ended up sitting behind the passenger seat. Let's just say that was the worst idea ever. Throughout the ride my eye would sometimes wonder to his arms, and every time he would turn the wheel his muscles would flex. I even imagined how it would feel to have these arms wrapped around me concealing me from the cold and keeping warm.
