Betty POV

I was in the middle of the last book that I've picked out of that one shelf. I've been reading these old, dusty books for several hours and I was getting quite restless by now. But luckily this last book was helping a lot more than the other ones. The most recent ones that I've read were all about Notch and his life story. It wasn't what you call "The Most Exciting Story Ever" or anything but it gave me some bits and pieces on what I've actually come to learn about.
The helpful paragraphs, sentences, or single words are what I write down for later on a notepad that the librarian let me have. I've so far used up fifteen little pages of info that I assume will be helpful sometime in our mission.
Most of the information that I've been hunting for are about the biome dragons and stuff like that. I've so far read that there have already been several wars in between them and the enderarmy. But if it wasn't for us, about half of them would be dead by now. They've been going on for eighteen years so far.
Okay, enough blah blah blah-ing for now. I'm getting a little too far into what I'm doing.

I was so absorbed in this latest book that I didn't hear a loud bang of the library door opening and closing. I didn't even hear the loud footsteps and ragged breathing mixed with panting coming right towards me.
I came back out of the book when I felt someone tapping on my shoulder. I whirled around in my chair and heaved a huge breath of relief that it was only Tatum.
She was bending over with her hands on her knees while letting out huge breaths.
I stood up and approached her. She had her backpack on. I could see something flashing vibrant red inside.

"What happened?" I asked with my voice filled with curiosity but worry.

Tatum held up her blocky hand which motioned for me to wait for her to catch her breath.

In a few short minutes, Tatum had fully gained her energy once again and started off with explaining where she had been.

"Since all of you had something to do and I didn't, I decided to go for a little walk along the outskirts of the village. It was really calming and stuff, y'know, the soothing bubbling of the lava, occasional snort of pigman, and-" But I cut her off.

"Okay okay I get it!" I spat annoyingly.

Tatum sighed and continued. "I was just absorbing in all the calming features of the Nether until I saw this red flash off to my left.
I went towards it and saw there was something behind this little lava fall. It was a crevice, and that red flashing thing was in it. In a few minutes I got it out and saw it was this."

Tatum took her backpack off her back and placed it on the table. She reached inside and pulled out a smooth, scarlet red, dragon egg. There were also little swirls of yellow and orange in random places. Every few minutes the egg moved a bit. I could tell there was a growing dragon inside.

"It's, it's beautiful!" I said in awe. The colours were astoundingly bright. Almost as if they were glowing.

"We have to show it to the others!" I suggested.

Tatum nodded in agreement. But after a few seconds she frowned.

"But we gotta make sure that no one from the village sees it. It could cause a lot of commotion.

I agreed with a small nod of my head and a happy smirk. I sat back down and examined the egg.
I loved how bright the colours were, the flashing of the red every few seconds, and if I looked closely, I could see the little dragon's silhouette moving around. I moved my hand out to touch it, but just as my hand grazed the top of the shell, I felt a terrible burning sensation coming into my hand. I let out a small yelp of pain and shot my hand back trying to cool it down.

"Why is it so hot?" I asked.

Tatum shrugged. "It wasn't to me. It just feels like an egg. But it's a bit warm." She explained.
