(Naomi)

The coughs were never ending. My throat ached and my chest heaved. I was definitely not going to school today. "Ok nous quittons!" My mom called from the steps. I coughed again and growled weakly in frustration. "Okey. Salute ma." I sniffed and turned back around to burrow into my covers. Damn colds. I've been fine the whole week, but of course I have to feel like utter shit on a Friday. Truth be told, I didn't mind missing my tests for AP psych and economics at all-it was just after school: I actually had plans that I was looking forwards to. The door slammed shut and after my mam left the driveway the air was filled with silence, with the exception of the occasional school bus passing by. I lay curled up in my man-made cocoon for a few more minutes and stared at my walls only to end up in a coughing fit moments afterwards. I groaned and searched my nightstand with one hand, searching for cough drops. Eventually I found one and popped it in my lips-just when my phone beeped. Without thinking, I reached over to answer.

"H-hello?" I tried to clear my throat. "Heya, how are you feeling?" That sweet and familiar voice greeted me. My mood immediately brightened. "Somewhat like shit." I answered honestly. A small giggle was heard. "I take that you're sick then?" She honestly just tried my life. "Uhuh, thanks for saving the day captain obvious." I joked lamely before starting to cough again. "Aw baby." She cooed over the phone. Once the second fit was over I collected myself and grabbed a shirt as I sat up in my bed. "I'll live, and if I'm right I believe you're supposed to be enjoying yourself in AP bio?" I realized that she was still talking to me even though it was past the start of school. About thirty minutes in. "Well, Mr. Parker is gone, and well, he hasn't returned and I got bored so I thought: why the hell not? Besides you didn't answer my morning text." I smiled whilst imagining the beauty pouting on the other end of the phone. "I'm sorry, I was sort of sleeping-sort of daydreaming." I replied softly. "I know, I was texting JJ." She answered in that cute husky voice of hers. "Of course he would know." I coughed lightly. "Hey babe I have to go, I'll drop by later okay?" Shuffling on the other end of the phone line probably meant she was moving, the bell rung. "No no don't get yourself sick by coming over love, I'd like that a lot but stay back okay?" I tried and kicked myself-wanting Lauren to come but to not get her sick. "I already decided, whoopsies. Too late now babes! See you soon gorgeous." The phone call ended a heartbeat afterwards; I grinned stupidly and sighed. Lauren was as stubborn as it gets. But I was really happy she bothered to come and see me when she went to school in midtown. It's only about a fifteen to twenty minute drive, but still. Wait shit-Lauren' s coming! I flopped out of bed, coughing for a few seconds and grabbed a pair of leggings and a fresh sports bra before downing some tea. I heaved myself over to the bathroom to wash my face and then brushed my teeth. With that I settled for laying over my bed with a blanket and watching Netflix. My phone beeped again a few minutes into The Bill Engvall Show. I opened the text, rolling my eyes.

Bennett:

Up for the secret rendezvous or nah? *o*

I typed in a reply and hit send, dropping my phone back down afterwards:

Stfu Chloe I'm dying here.

I listened as my phone beeped again.
