33, 34, 35...36...
I still haven't broken a sweat, which pleases me to no end as I begin my morning workouts. Clarke was probably still sleeping in bed, leaving me to work my usual morning routines of push-ups, pull ups, sit-ups, and my brief run around the neighborhood. Some people may think I work out like mad, but hey, it's refreshing, I'm getting used to not running after any crazy criminals. Being back home from Vienna was wonderful, I got to see Clarke again every day, spend time with her and my old crew outside of the FBI. I couldn't be happier and more at peace.
The sounds from my frequent apartment relocations were gone, now all I heard when going to sleep was the air system and of course, Clarke's breaths as she slept besides me and the occasional breeze from the trees outside our simple two story home in Seattle. The view always calmed me, the lights and the city skyline, it was especially wonderful at times like this morning, nothing could break my mood.
That is, until a sudden weight on my back almost shocked me out of my workout, the giggles let me know the reason. "Clarke, honey?" I asked, feeling the blonde beauty tracing my tattoos around my sports bra. "Hmm?" She asked. "You're on my back." I settled. "Yup." She agreed. "The rubbing is...distracting." I continued, feeling her amazing hands sliding down my back. "I wanted to contribute to your morning workouts love." She leaned down to hug me, like a practical fucking kowala; I couldn't handle it and started laughing, somehow still holding us both up. "Sure, but we know what kind of workouts you like, Clarkey." I answered. "Come on Lex, be nice!" Clarke pouted and kissed my back. "Hang on then." I decided and carefully eased myself down, and back up. I resumed my morning workout, leaving Clarke's jaw to drop, or I at least felt it on my back. "You can, hold...my weight. And yourself...Lexa what kind of fuckery is this?! You're superman! Or someone I swear." Clarke gaped. I could imagine her wide blue eyes and her lips in an adorable O shape. "I'm just me babe." I couldn't shrug so I just shook my head secretly feeling my muscles tense in pleasure. "But-but! What and how?!" She was still in a slight shock as I managed to work through seven more push ups. "My job has served me well you know." I chuckled softly before lowering myself completely onto the ground with my girlfriend still on my back. "Wow." Clarke suddenly breathed when I turned to face her, having her straddling my stomach.
"What's wrong?" I asked, tucking a stray piece of hair away and behind her ear; completely aware of Clarke staring at me. "I just, look how far we've gotten. Sometimes I can't believe that...I get to be with you, because you want me too, I'm so lucky." She smiled softly and looked away from me but grabbed the hand I moved her hair with and rested it softly against her cheek once more. "Clarke, I always-" "ah ah, let me finish Lex!" She cut me off, prodding my abs. "I know that you could always have whoever you want. But me, I still have that sense. The one that I'm blessed to have someone like you...to love. Lexa, you can do so many things-you can help people, hell run a marathon probably, outsmart my boss, and out of all, you can be a constant in my life. I love you." By this time, Clarke had run her finger softly down my jawline and to fiddle with the necklace I was wearing, a wooden carving she had made for me on our one month anniversary, which was maybe almost two years ago now. Her words made me smile, a big smile. "Can I speak now or will my mouth be taped shut?" I joked. The blonde beauty blushed, but shook her head to indicate that I speak. "Right. Well, first off Clarkey, you'll always be my number one. Seeing you wake up and putting on my shirts in the mornings reminds me what home is. And it's something that makes me wake up in the mornings, what kept me going in Vienna, because it's you Clarke. You're my home, and I hope you know that." I smiled softly, tracing her perfect collarbone softly and the tips of her golden hair. "You're too good to be true." Clarke was blushing like mad now, but I just kissed her softly. "Nope, I'm just someone who loves you too. A lot." I said whilst rubbing her back affectionately, admiring the beauty sitting on my lap in my shirt with the bracelet I sent her during my last month in Vienna. "I love you Lexa." Clarke leaned forwards to hug me and wrapped her arms tightly around my neck and cuddled into my chest. "I love you too, princess." I whispered after kissing her hairline softly, enjoying the moment which I would remember throughout my whole lifetime of being. At that moment a small beep from my phone indicated a message and broke us out of our moment, I pulled away from Clarke a little bit so I could reach the device laying next to the workout mat I was using and kissed Clarke quickly before seeing that I had a meeting in thirty minutes. "Baby I have to go to a meeting, I'll be back soon okay?" I said once I gently nudged Clarke on my lap. "But lex, I was going to get some time off at the office to be with you." She pouted, resting her chin on my shoulder and locking her arms around my midriff. I could feel myself laugh against her and rub circles over the back of one of my white button ups she decided to slip on this morning. "I'm sorry princess. I'll be only an hour. Promise." I wrapped my arms around her small body, relishing in having her here. Feeling her physical warmth on my lap, and seeping into me, I imagined it filling my body to get me going, and also unfortunately tugging me straight back into her, wanting to stay right here with her in my arms. I pulled her up gently and then decided to scoop up my girlfriend, carrying her into our bedroom. "Lexa!" She yelped in alarm, I only had a small knowing smile. I loved surprising her, in any way. "I'll be only an hour okay?" I repeated to the blonde beauty when I set her down on the bed. She sighed and nodded, watching me strip out of my workout clothes. I then went to take a quick shower, hearing the door open and close. I turned, but was left alone somehow. I raised an eyebrow in wonder, but my silent question was answered when I stepped out of the shower ten minutes later, tying my hair up in a bun to see a pair of black skinnies and another button up waiting for me, I smiled. Courtesy of my beautiful girlfriend. I pulled on my clothes and slipped on comfy boots, seeing Clarke now changed into a nice sundress that complimented her curves graciously. "Where are you off to m'lady?" I wrapped my arms around her whilst she put on some mascara. "I'm going to drop off some plans at my office, I was thinking we could meet up for lunch today babe?" She asked almost shyly, reminding me of how it wasn't only me that was affected by the distance we had during my time in Vienna. I still hadn't told her everything about my time there, like how I watched my partner get shot to death, how I had a scar. I wanted to tell her the good things, not the bad.
"Of course we will princess, and then we'll spend the rest of the day together, deal?" I turned her around so she was leaning comfortably against the shelf. Her blue eyes glowed a little brighter, giving her the familiar spark she got when she was content. Her soft but meaningful kiss that followed was enough of an answer for me. She led me over towards the door and opened a closet that held our jackets, selecting one of my work blazers and then helped me into it as well, tugging on the lapels of my blazer whilst I wrapped my arms around her waist to keep her in my arms as long as possible, my heart weakened feeling her straighten my collar and adjust my jacket carefully, taking the time to help me get ready for work. Everything she managed to surprise me with just made me love her even more, from her features to her being and want to always help others and give her love.
"I love you, Clarke, you have no idea how much I missed this." I couldn't help the words that escaped my lips. She knew I wasn't one for much mushy words, but that didn't keep her from smiling. "I'm glad you're home beautiful." She whispered against my lips, our foreheads resting together peacefully, reminding me of what life was. It wasn't just my job, it was also loving Clarke, being able to be happy even if the darkness still touched me. Clarke helped me glow. And she reminded me what it meant to have a home.
"Me too, princess."
I wouldn't ever have it any other way.
