"I'll see you in ten days." Jemma reached up to lightly smack Skye's cheek as the other agent in training simply pouted in disapproval. "What was that for?" She joked rubbing her cheek with that cute little grin Jemma secretly adored on her face. "It was a loving...slap?" The older one tried. Skye simply snorted; she knew the biochemist was still alert due to combat practice. "Sure, as if slaps aren't mean at all. But right now, all that matters is: spring break! And it's finally here! That means I get to sleep in for a whole week, and send you guys little snippets of Mr. Scruffles when you least expect it!" Skye was absolutely ready, Jemma watched the operations student do a graceful little leap of joy; giggling at her...friend?
"Sweetie, I'm sure you're just excited to not have to wake up at four in the morning for runs."
Sure. She wasn't quite sure what they were, but nontheless that was the power of not needing a label. First, Jemma met Bobbi her first year in a communications workshop, and after Jemma decided to go and hang out with her in the boiler room she met Skye; they both got along instantly, becoming rather close for friends but not enough to be considered together-however a couple of boys did in fact, ask the two one day when Skye was taking a small nap against Jemma's chest whilst the other girl studied, the older girl had simply chuckled and shook her head. Then, two years later they walked the hallways surrounded by fellow students saying their goodbyes for the week long break, already used to the fact that the majority of the student body had mistaken them as together-but two years gives you time to ease over on it, the two just carried on with their daily routines. "I'm going to miss you." Skye pouted, because she wasn't kidding, she really would miss the gorgeous brit. Who wouldn't miss such a gorgeous pale face with delicate mousy blonde hair and hazel eyes? Jemma Simmons was practically perfect without a doubt. "I'll be back, don't get too lonely love." She chuckled and reached for the young girl's hand to tug her into a hug. "I'll be at the beach. Kinda." Skye only sighed into her shoulder, being the taller one. "I love you bum. Don't have too much fun sleeping in without me." Jemma leaned onto her tiptoes to kiss Skye's forehead before finding Bobbi, who left with Jemma after hugging Skye goodbye. The young girl watched them leave, smiling sadly at the image. Alone once more. No family or friends back home. Just her. And her cat Mr. Scruffles, but still. It was really just her. Sure, she was looking forwards to going to the beach-in her peaceful little cabin-but she hated to admit: the lovely biochem major would have been great company...at any given place, not just the beach. Skye realized she would honestly love to do anything if Jemma was involved.

"I'll see you in ten days." Skye frowned seeing Jemma's worried state, the feeling of nostalgia washing over them both. The biochemist latched onto her middle like a vice and Mr. Scruffles who was in the hacker's arms was forced to jump down, mewling in protest to be shushed by Skye. "Please stay here." She pleaded. Skye hugged her gently, knowing she couldn't stay, knowing she might not come back this time. "I can't. And I know you know that Jem." She murmured, inhaling the scent of soft vanilla shampoo in the older woman's hair. Two more years had passed, two years had blown past as Skye and Jemma grew even closer, knowing each other's odd quirks, nervous habits, comfort foods, Skye's cat shenanigans, many little things. Watching as the young biochemist fiddled with her lab coat, Skye knew she was concerned about this mission, Hydra soldiers were not funny subjects to mess around with, let alone their tactics for interrogation and compliance. "I know. That's why I'm scared." She bit her lip. Skye couldn't resist taking her thumb and gently pulling the biochemist's lip away from her teeth. "I have no choice." She admitted finally, leaving it out in the open. A sharp intake of breath from Jemma had her nodding. "Please try, do everything you can. I...can't. Lose you." Jemma said silently, now face to face with the hacker. "I will." Skye whispered and sealed her answer with a kiss, hoping Jemma would understand, hoping that by the way she held her that she would understand that she was more than just the scientist. More than just a pretty face. Jemma was pushing herself completely forwards, anything to get closer to Skye-her hands forcefully tangling in the hacker's hair, kissing her back deeply. Skye could barely breathe, the feeling of Jemma was driving her insane; her arms tightly wrapped around the smaller woman, holding the small of her back to push the biochemist straight into her toned stomach, needing even more of a closer proximity between the two. But as much as Jemma was enjoying it all, as much as she was up in the stars with Skye-she knew they couldn't continue. She slowly let Skye go, pulling back just an inch to look into her eyes. "Go." She breathed out shakily, seeing the other woman bite her lip and nod, kissing her softly once more before she left. Skye didn't want to look back, or else she'd go flying back to the scientist for comfort, but she couldn't-because Hydra was still out there, and it was her job to help wipe them out. Thankfully she didn't look back, or else, she would have seen Jemma sit down and silently start to sob, out of fear, delight, and just life.
