So all of our lives are fairly good - Caleb lives with his girlfriend, Jenna, after his breakup with Cara; Christina currently lives in her own apartment, but she is going to move in with Will soon; Zeke and Shauna live in the house just across from mine. Maybe if things had not gone the way they did, I could've been living with Tris.
I take a shower and get ready to go to work. It's seven, so I to go to Zeke and Shauna's for a while, who must be awake too. Zeke works for a banking company, while Shauna is a teacher in a middle school nearby.
I enter without knocking, plop myself on their couch and startle Zeke as he comes into the living room.
"Yo, Four," he says, "what's up?"
"Ah, nothing." I say.
"A tip, though. Knock before you enter or at least give some sign of your presence so you don't scare the other person."
"Can't believe a Dauntless gets scared that easy," I say.
Shauna enters and says, probably having overheard our conversation,"That's what I told you, Four, when we were initiates. Do you remember?"
"Actually, I do remember," I say, sitting up straight, "I have noticed that you guys do have similar thoughts. Should I consider it a coincidence, or..."
Shauna blushes profusely, and Zeke looks at her, with a cute smile on his face, and I get up, saying,"Okay, love birds, I needed leave you guys alone for some time so that.." I make kissy noises like a five year old
and Zeke pats me on the back saying ,"Oh well..."
"Four!" Shauna says, laughing,"Stop it."
She goes back inside, still laughing like a maniac.
"Now that's your girlfriend," I say to Zeke.
"Well.. I like Shauna, actually. She likes me back, so..."
"I know."
"Uh, Four?" Zeke says," I gotta tell ya something, buddy."
"Uh-huh."
"Look, I really think it's time for you to move on. I know you an Tris were inseparable but... I'm sure Tris would also like you to move on. Just never forget her, but you have a whole life ahead of you. You'd rather not spend it alone. You know what I mean, right? Tris is watching you, and she still loves you, I bet, but she doesn't want you to be alone. She's dead. One year is over. Get over it, man. That's what Tris wants."
I take my time to reply to him, and then say,"Remember that time when Shauna was on wheelchair? You liked her then, too. Would you have moved on if she had died? Ask yourself, Ezekiel Pedrad, and then answer me."
"I..." He starts but then stops short. I raise an eyebrow and say, "I know you guys want to help, but it's not that easy. And you know it. Anyway, I gotta go."
"Okay, bro. But just think over it."
"Will do." I say as I shut the door after me.
