Tobias' POV:
There is darkness all around me. I hear the sound of shuffling feet and someone breathing close to me. Then I hear a voice,"Tobias."Instantly, I know it's Tris. Even though I'm bound to a pillar, I jam into action. I start to wriggle in my place as I hear the crackling sound of the tearing rope.
"Tris!" I call out immediately. She shouldn't be coming towards me, otherwise..
"I can't see you!" She says loudly.
"Tris, stay away-" I start to say but I hear the sound of cracking wood. No. No, this can't be happening! No!"Tris!" I yell and squirm to get the ropes off. My hands are tied, so I shake my body really hard until the ropes become loose and fall down. Even in the dark, I know where Tris is. Raul and Grayson, the people who kidnapped me, had planted a big pit right in front of me so that if someone came to rescue me, they'd fall into it. And that's exactly why they had darkened the place. Carefully, I run over to the pit, and see the outlines of Zeke and Shauna standing very close to it.
"What happened Tris?" Shauna yells. I push her away from the pit.
"Four!" I hear Zeke's voice,"What happened to you, bro?"
"Forget that," I say, hurriedly bending over the pit to see Tris, even though I know I won't be able to see her,"We need to get to her!"
"TOBIAS!" I hear Tris scream. Not exactly scream with fear, but scream for help,"I NEED HELP!"
"I'm coming Tris, just stay there!" I shout back. She seems to be deep inside, because I can tell she's screaming at the top of her voice."Do you guys have a flashlight?" I ask them hurriedly, turning back. As if they're visible.
"No," Zeke says,"We didn't get-"He is cut off when a bright light floods the room. I shield my eyes with my hands and try not to shut my eyes. All of a sudden, Zeke and Shauna's horrified expressions come into view as they look at the pit and I see Tris down in the pit, her lip bleeding profusely. She seems alright except for that lip, but that wound looks bad. I look away to see Grayson standing there. He's a hefty guy with a long scar.
"Four, your friends seem to have come to rescue you," he says,"But now it looks like they're going to need to be rescued themselves."
"Leave them alone. Deal with me, Grayson."
I feel anger bubbling inside me. Grayson hurt Tris. He hurt her. Nobody lays a finger on my girl.I charge towards him and hold him by the waist and try to turn him upside down. However, he blocks me with his forearms. I try to punch him in the face. He hasn't blocked me there so I give him a black eye. The blow makes him stagger backward and he falls hard on his back. Inspite of being a hefty man, it just took one punch to put him off. I hold him by his collar and look him dead in the eye,"Don't you dare touch my friends." I leave him, but he pounces on my back when I turn my back towards him. He weighs so much! My body is pressed against the floor with him on top of me.
I shake hard to take him off but he's too big for that. Zeke comes over and tries to pull him off as he resists my punching. Shauna kicks him the leg and he let's out a yelp.
With that, I push him backwards. Zeke comes over and tackles him while I go to the edge of the pit as Shauna follows.
Tris is standing there, holding a finger to her lip to stop the bleeding and when she sees me, she widens her bluish grey eyes.
I smile at her and say,"Are you okay?"
"Yeah," I hear her say faintly. Her lower body is covered by the shadow of the pit. I look around myself. I need something to pull her up."There's a rope in the other room.." Her voice trails off slowly as her eyes widen and I notice the expression of fear take over her face as she yells,"TOBIAS, WATCH OUT!"
I know there is someone behind me so I duck. I feel the swish of wind as I notice something white right above me, swinging to hit me hard in the head. And if it weren't for Tris, I'd be somewhere in the hospital now with a severe memory loss or something.
Thanks God for Tris.
