There comes a time when it's all to much.
When there's nothing left.
As the villainous darkness starts to pull you under to its darkest depths.
Drowning as you watch others breath, effortlessly...Tears spilled from my eyes, mixing with rain splattering across the pavement.
It hit against my frame, soaking me head to toe as I ran down the empty streets of New York, my half-hearted attempt at leaving it all behind, yet with no destination."TRESMAE!" Footsteps echoed, slapping against the pavement.
I winced as hands gripped my shoulders turning me to face them, pressing me against the wall.
I looked up at his slightly bruised face, marked from my outrage. The blue orbs now puffy and red, side affects from medicine they kept handing him. His body ever so skinner, from being cooped up in one of Starks hospital rooms for the long, ageing days. His blond hair was ruffled into a mess instead of his usual comb over, he wore sweat pants with a simple tee-shirt.
His face was different as if for once the super soldier felt this pain, more ways then one."I don't want to hear it." I murmured staring out into the shallows of the storm.
"I'm sorry but you have no choice but to listen. Fury has kept me informed, to when he came rushing in saying you had done a runner and I, out of all people chased after you and talked you to some sense." Steve informed, rain soaking his shirt making it sit awkwardly tight around his toned body.
I glared at him, shaking the thoughts away. Awaiting him to continue.
"You can't just run from your problems, Tresmae! What about your Nan, fighting for her life? You haven't even checked up on her yet! What about your farther? What happened to finding him? Helping us? What about the unanswered questions? Tresmae this isn't some game anymore, this is real life! This is reality!" He ranted, raising his voice.
.His body kept stiff against mine as he furrowed his eyebrows in frustration.
He sighed, looking down at his feet to shake his head and look back up at my empty eyes.
"What happened to hope? The light at the end of the tunnel?" He murmured.
"The light at the end of the tunnel is nothing but the sun on our eyes." I glared pressing my lips to a thin line.
"As for hope, it's nothing but a lie." I turned my eyes to met his stare."How would you know hope to be nothing but a lie? How are you to use it if you are not to believe in it?"
"Because I have hung onto it far to many times for it only to break my beliefs." I whispered with an uprising temper.
"So what if your not one for hope! What about the others? What about the bigger picture, Tresmae?" His tone sharp against my raw skin.
"You need to stop feeling sorry for yourself and do something! I know it's tuff, we all do! Yes, you've been through heaps, gee, worse then anyone I know! But we all know what it's like to suffer. We all know where your coming from! But that's what we do, we work together. To pull down our weaknesses and build out abilities. We know it can be as hard as hell, but you can't just run from everything! You need to do something about it!" He huffed, voice rising.
His chest fell up and down with soft breaths as he let it all out.
With cold, stone hard reality.
But my, my did the truth lift the dust.
Because experience was a brutal teacher, but my god do you learn.
And everything he said came from nothing bar brutal experience and the reality it had now all become.
I leant in close as our soaked bodies stood closely together in the pooring ran. I felt his uneven warm breath fan out across my pale face. Goose bumps pricked my skin. I leant in closer, our noses slightly grazing.
"Then what are we waiting for, Captain?"
•••••••••••••••••••
Btw Tresmae is depressed, her character is a metaphor of depression.
(If you haven't picked that up yet)Anyway, Thanks so much for reading!
This was just a little filler! But it would defiantly have to be one of my favourite chapters :)
That was a bit of a new side to Steve and Tresmae's 'relationship'
And I dnt know why but I really enjoyed writing this chapter, and Steves hit in the face with reality !!
2.44k reads, I'm just... Well, uh I don't know what to say. THANKS SO MUCH :) :) :)
