Karma might have hate it here, in the forest, a lot less if she wasn't lost and alone with Duncan, unchaperoned. Which makes her feel more uncomfortable by the minute. She was certain having to fend for herself in this wretched forest and would be more comforting even with her poor survival skills and the obvious fact that she wouldn't make it out alive.
"What's the sense in getting out? " she asked herself. "What's the point of living? " why try to stay alive if you never feel alive. "Why am i always fighting to live when I'm dead inside?"
I should have just let my brothers men kill me awhile ago and all those years spent suffering plotting ways to escape I could have just gave up and escape like mom did, with her husband's waistband. Yet, i lived...
Everyday full of emptiness, loneliness and torment.

She has been avoiding human contact for so long she no longer knew how to act around them and being alone in the forest with this huge gorgeous specimen of a man unnerves the soul out of her. When she used to attend those balls, dinners or tea party she would always envision what would happen there since it is always the same she would plan and practice exactly what to say, do and how to do or say it. After a while she just stopped, stopped attending those pretentious events. Until eventually she had became a social outcast and though many might not know but though she was disconnected from the world and their stupid social circles she still hears what they whisper about her. She would have been offend but it is better they believe that than knowing the real truth. She frowned at the irony in her hating the nobles because of their pretentiousness. Then she thought of the real reason it unnerves her so to be alone in the woods with Duncan. The truth is though she knows that human, men especially couldn't be trusted she felt sort of safe being with Duncan. She knew he wanted something from her but she felt safe. And the worst part was the way he makes her feel, subconscious more than ever, especially when he looks at her as and she fears he his seeing more than she show, fear that he sees the dirty dark secrets that slowly eats out her inside.

People are not kind to anyone unless they are paid to do so. She have read some books, many to be precise about love and to her these things are like fairy godmothers.

Duncan thought about what happened a few minutes ago and he wondered why she didn't go with her brothers men since she was so desperate to get away from him. He didn't want to remind her of the barbaric way he had abducted her from her home but he had to ask. "Why didn't you go home with your brother's men?"

As the words came out of his mouth he heard her let out a breathless cry. "Haa." She fell to the ground holding her ankle. Duncan without even thinking immediately went down to the ground, gentle touching and assessing the foot she was holding.

"I think your ankle is damaged. You have to rest, you cannot travel on it. We'll camp here. "He said in a concerning tone."

Karma nodded her head.

Duncan began taking off his jacket and Karma immediately asked. "What do you think you are doing?" panicking.

But he did not answer, he just continue to take off his jacket. Then began unbuttoning his shirt and Karma gasped. After taking off his shirt he began tearing his shirt making strips of cloth. Noticing uncanny silence he apologised. "My apologies I need to tie these around your ankle to help it recover."

"Okay." She said and her cheek felt hot. Although she couldn't see him clearly in the darkness karma held her head down not looking at his bare chest.

She watched as he gently took her foot and began tying the strips he made from his shirt around it. He was so focused and careful she almost cried. This was beyond what anyone has done for her. She wondered what his motives were. Does he have a motive? Would anyone do what he was doing for her now? It was not only what he was doing for her but it was the way he did it, without hesitation, with care.

Her body shivered every time his fingers brushed against her skin.

After finishing he looked up and their eyes locked. There was an awkward silence and she looked away as the image of the embarrassing way she acted, screamed and begged came into her mind. She regretted that he saw that weak, scared, stupid and helpless part of her.

"Does it feel better?" He asked and it took her a while to realise that he was talking about her ankle.

"Much better, thank you."

"It should feel better tomorrow." And with that statement she remember the situation she was in. where were they going to sleep.

"I never want to go home." What Karma said did not only surprised Duncan her as well, she couldn't believe she has just utter those words. But, she continued. "I didn't intended on going back to the Winsley Manor."

Duncan's reply was, "I see." That explains it. Which meant she was running from them, thus, the forest.

The stories he heard about her he knew they weren't true but he had thought she was just a selfish snob why she does the things she do, but now as he gazed at her in the dimness he knows that there is more to her. More about Kara to be discovered. More about her he was dieing to know, she was like a puzzle and some of the pieces were missing.

"I am sorry for the way I acted before, I thought you were one of my brother's men." Saying the ways, reminding him of how vulnerable she is left a bitter taste in her mouth.

"Apology accepted."

She wasn't, abducting her was the best thing anyone has done for her.

"That's okay, you are forgiven I guess."

They stopped talking and was surrounded by that awkward silence once again.

Duncan threw his jacket over her and was the first to break the silence. "I would make a fire but it would attract unwanted company." He said speaking of Karma's brother's men. "We will have to sleep here."

She didn't reply she just hugged his jacket to her lie down into the ground and then it hit her of how selfish shirt was being, she couldn't believe she expected to take his jacket while he bears in the cold.

"Duncan," she would never get used to calling him by his Christian name, "We'll have to share the jacket."

She was embarrassed about what she was about to suggest and she blushed. "We'll have share body heat, it's getting increasing cold." It was late summer and the nights were getting colder. She laid down back where she was and he came behind her as close enough to be her second skin.

He smelled of leather and an indefinite spice that her brain as registered as his. She couldn't help but to inhale a deep whiff on him.

Hugging his jacket close to her she closed her eyes and he did the same with a smile on his face.
