At dinner did not seem like himself, but so did Karma. She didn't know what she was expecting after they have left the forest. Maybe he would confess his love for her and they would live happily ever after. Of course she was not expecting that but some part of her wonder how he feels about her. She had spent considerable time choosing the perfect dress for dinner and spent time washing and combing her hair, but he hardly looks at her.
Now has she sat and admired him from about ten meters away from where she sat. He barely ate his food and he seemed distant. No body seem to notice thought has they all ate in the noisy great hall. No body seemed to notice either that Duncan retired earlier than usual.
He was just a wee lad, but he knew his mama wasn't happy. Something was wrong and he didn't like it. He could see the dark circles around his mother's swollen eyes that were swollen from crying all night. His mother had a bag on her shoulder and she lowered herself to the ground where he was and placed a kiss on his forehead.
"I love you, son." She said and that was the last time he heard her beautiful voice and saw her beautiful face.
Richard was plagued by this memory every day and this only made him hate Karma more. He clenched his fist and closed his eyes envisioning the moment he gets his hands on the wench. He signs his signature at the bottom of the letter, put it in an envelope, melt one end of the sealing wax and drip it twice on the envelope. Pleased with himself, for thinking of such a plan, he pressed the Winsley crest on the wax, forming a wolf on top of a mountain on the red wax.

Everyone in the Duncan's castle was afraid of Karma at the moment. The way Karma has changed since Duncan got ill surprised and scared them. She was barking commands, she hadn't slept for days, and she spent her entire time in Duncan's quarters.
Mary looked at Karma sitting across Duncan and wonder if the sickness was contagious, Karma was pale, she had dark circles under her eyes and she worried the lady was coming down with something as well.
"M' Lady, would you please eat something." Mary said in a pleading tone.
Karma sat moving the food around in her plate. She didn't have any appetite, all she thought about was how much she didn't want to lose him and worst of all she knew it was her fault. It's always her fault, her mother, Richards's mother and now him. The healer said his fever could be a result of his exposure to the old night air. If she didn't run away in the first place this wouldn't have happened. Tears ran down her cheek as she prayed for his wellbeing.
She got up and pressed her hands to his forehead, he was getting warmer. She rang the bell to summon a servant. "Get me a wash cloth and cold water." As they brought the things she send for she began working, patting the cold cloth on Duncan forehead.
After about an hour with Duncan's temperature rising continuously, he began twisting and turning in his bed. Karma got worried, worst she felt helpless, there was nothing she could do and it was killing her.
Karma was pacing, pacing around the bed, thinking, worrying about what she could do until she remember what she heard the people in the south use when someone has a fever. They rub the person in rum and give them rum to drink. She didn't know if this would work but she decided that she will have to give it a try.
She ordered the maid to bring a bottle of rum and she rubbed Duncan from head to toe with it. With Mary's help Karma pour a cork of diluted rum into Duncan's mouth.
After about thirty minutes Karma realised that his temperature was dropping rapidly. Duncan began twisting and turning and mumbling something. Karma walked closer to the bed and Duncan grabbed onto her hands and said something sounding like, "stay."
Tears ran down Karma's face. She didn't know why but she couldn't help it. For all she knew he might have been saying get away but the way he held her hands as if he never wants to let go. This was what made her cry.
Karma summoned Mary and they both propped Duncan head up on a pillow and forced water down his throat.
Karma woke up the next morning sitting beside Duncan, in the same dress she has been wearing for the two days. Duncan was still holding her hand and she smiled at him. She placed her hand on his forehead and realised that his body is at a normal temperature.
Duncan stirs and came awake, this time for real. His eyes were not just open while he was unconscious but he was full awake and he did the weirdest thing he smiled at her and her heart did the weirdest thing. It felt as it was galloping.
Mary came in the room and the tray she carried in her hands almost fell out when she say Duncan.
"M' Lord" She Stuttered.
Mary and Karma fed Duncan his breakfast. Duncan didn't want to look weak but there was no way on earth he would deny two persistent women, worst he did have the strength to.
Feeling relief and happy Karma took a bath, washed her hair and put on one of the dress Duncan gave her. She went back to his room and saw him sitting up talking to Peter. They joked and teased each other.
After Peter left the room became silent and they stared at each other for what seem like eternity.
Duncan did tell Karma that there was a problem, he could remember her clearly saying she never want to go back to Winsley Manor. He got a court order commanding him to return Karma to her rightful guardian.
Karma was the first to break the silence. "You need to get some rest Duncan."
Karma sat on the chair beside the bed and Duncan reached for her hand.
"Thank you." Duncan said in the most sincere way she had ever heard. Peter told him that while he was sick she stayed days and night beside his bed.
"For what?" Karma asked.
"For being here."
Karma did not reply, the truth is she didn't know what to say. She has never felt this way before. All she knew was that if she had lost him she would die too. "Glad to see you are recovering quickly, my lord but you have to rest." She choose to address him by his title instead of his Christian name, because things were getting too personal than she think she could handle.
"If you kiss me just once, I'll rest." He pouted his soft perfectly kissable lips and she knew what she was about to do was dangerous but she couldn't resist. She brushed her lips on his and before she knew it his hand was at the back of her head, pulling her to him, until her lips was on his once more. His tongue brushes against her lips and they parted in response. His tongue was now in her mouth, mating with hers. He was doing something to her. And she liked it. She didn't want to stop, didn't think she could stop, but when his hands slid up her dress, caressing her thighs she pulled away from him quickly.
"Time for you to rest my lord" She said, her voice ragged. Duncan smiled up at her and closed his eyes.
