It was evident that Richard was in a good mood, of course, he smiles more when he is feeling sinister, but the pep in his step today was undeniable as he whistles a happy tune. If you didn't know him you would think he is a normal person. Sure he likes a good pumpkin pie and gin like any ordinary, but he also enjoys the suffering of people. No one was fooled by his nonchalant demeanor though, they all knew better. It simply means he was plotting something and it is going his way.
Richard knew that by now Duncan must have gotten the letter from the King's Court and he will have no choice but to return his karma and if he refused it will be seen as treason. Like always he will outsmart the fool, Duncan. He will have to return her and that would mean he wins. After making him look like the lackwit he is he will slaughter everyone he knows while he watches.
"Wine please and send the lad up to my room."
"Yes milard."The young maid responded promptly.
In a second he was served wine and the boy was standing in front of him, with his eyes directed on his toes.
Richard whistle his way into his favorite room. When he got there the candles were lit but the room was dim, the way he preferred and the fireplace was blazing the way he liked it. Everything was in place except for the lad hanging from his high bedpost with a belt around his neck. The boy killed himself he wasn't surprised; afterall the lad had a lack of spirit.
"Such a buzz kill."
This did not dampen Richard's mood one bit, he rang the bell on the table and the maids came rushing in. Arlene rat face became pail the moment she entered the room."No, no no, no, no, Joseph, nooo..." She cried, pulling the knot from around his neck.
