I've always imagined their daughter's name to be Gabi

"Daddy, what if there's going to be ghosts outside?" Gabi said to one of her fathers, holding onto his leg. She was, as most five year olds are, afraid of the dark. It got dark fast that year and it wasn't even 8:00. Even though she was wearing a Tinker Bell costume she believed to glow and light up, she was still afraid of the impending darkness of Halloween.
"Sweetie, there's probably no ghosts. Ghosts don't come around when people are trick or treating, it's not safe for them." Vic told his daughter, who still would not let go of his leg, meaning he was kind of stuck standing there. He had already set up the wagon, but he wanted to help his husband, Kellin, out with dressing Gabi up and getting her things ready.
"But then that means they're still out there!?" Gabi gasped, holding onto her dad's leg tighter.
"No Gabs, they're in their homes waiting for everyone to go to sleep so they can have a party of their own." Vic reassured his daughter. It seemed to be working because she eventually let go.
"You sure?" Gabi crossed her arms, staring Vic down. Gabi was stubborn and had fire in her, that's for sure. But all the adults loved her.
"Yes darling, I'm sure." Vic smiled at her and patted her head in the way that all dads do. It's a dad thing.
Gabi smiled right back, all thoughts of ghosts in the streets gone. Then she said, "Where is Mama, we gotta go." Gabi referred to her other dad as Mama, because that's how Vic called Kellin when he was with Gabi. Ever since she could remember, he's been Mama.
"You know your Mama, he takes forever getting ready." Vic laughed to himself. Of course Gabi didn't get it, she was too focused on needing to go and get her candy.
Eventually though, Kellin emerged from wherever he had been, clearly ready to go. But before they could go and leave, he said, "Gabi, I think it's chilly out sweetie, you need to wear a sweater. Or a jacket."
Gabi didn't like this idea at all, "But then no one will be able to see my costume!"
"We can put the wings over it. Plus, your hair is really pretty." Seeing as Kellin was in cosmetology school, he dolled Gabi up. She absolutely loved it of course, she was a total princess.
"I know but the dress is the whole point." Gabi pouted, not wanting to put on the jacket that Vic had retrieved while Kellin and Gabi were conversing.
"Well you look gorgeous in it. But I don't think you want to get cold, do you?" Kellin asked her. He knew that Gabi wasn't very fond of the cold, just like Vic.
"No." Gabi finally admitted after what seemed like a very long stretch of five year old silence.
"So are you willing to put on your jacket?" Kellin asked. Gabi nodded and took the jacket from Vic, wanting to put it on herself. Of course, she couldn't zip it up, so Kellin did it for her.
"Now can we go?" Gabi asked impatiently as she tried opening the door, but couldn't, as it was still locked.
Vic nodded, "I think we're ready, yes."
Gabi grinned excitedly, "Yay!" She managed to unlock the door and open it herself. She ran out the door and to the wagon that was sitting on the drive. Every year, Gabi would get too tried to walk, so the wagon was her choice of transportation (or either of her dads carrying her). But she was beginning to slowly outgrow it. All kids do eventually though.
"Come on, you two are so slooooow, let's go!" Gabi was basically jumping around, her bag clutched in her small hands. She wanted the bag to be overflowing, but Kellin and Vic didn't want her to get too much. Sometimes getting candy wasn't safe.
