I had to stay away. Markus's presence seems too strong to go anywhere in the Overworld. Conveniently, he seems to not think of going to the Nether. Alternatively, perhaps there is a reason why he thought it was such a terrible place when he initially threw me in here... He's always is secretly fond with all the Aether creatures - he has just never wanted to admit it.
I have a mission I need to do. Markus will probably assume that I will either ignore them or come by myself in defeat, but I need to be unpredictable right now. Forces can come in numbers, and I learnt that the hard way a long time ago.
Nevertheless, who? Which player or mob would actually help me? Sure, I have some persistent... fans out there, even creating their names to be disturbingly similar to mine. They are usually the weak players; they cannot even come up with their own unique suffix to start a legend of their own. Ever heard of a player named Silverbrine or Shadowbrine? Yeah.
I can control the mobs, yet they will never willingly help me. I need never-swaying help. Notch took care of those ages ago, when he created the Enderdragon to master most of the Endermen, and other hostile mobs at times.
Suddenly, I have an idea. We used to be best friends at school, but when I figured out what he really was... well, he did not really like the fact that I did.
This will be hard. I don't even know if he stayed on this server or not, after he realized a monster had "shown its true colors".
- - -
I finally narrowed down his presence to a different house on a different street, but on the same server. Foolish. I'm already risking being seen out in the Overworld (the enchantment of not being seen only works in Phase's house), and I can tell that Markus still hasn't left the server. Let me get to the point, and give this particular sorcerer a name. Seto will now pose as a threat to Markus, once he senses that I have been near him lately.
I hesitate, hovering above the brightly-coloured grass. Houses scatter the area like an organised bookshelf: never too far apart, yet there's many in numbers. That's one of the reasons why I never liked towns or villages... You were always too close to your neighbour, no matter what you did.
Well, there was no doubt Seto is here. Smirking a little, I teleport, reappearing in Seto's house.
It looks really shabby, and I can say that it was more quickly built than the one I had before. Red carpet is the flooring, and bookshelves adorn every wall.
Seto suddenly pops up from the middle of nowhere. I narrow my eyes, not overlooking any small detail of him. It looks like a poorly hidden dagger is shoved in his pocket. He holds a purple sword, so I take that as permission to take out my own... One that I like to call Ender, and not simply because of Phase.
"So..." Seto says, flicking his eyes briefly to my sword, and then up to my face again. "The coward comes to my home... seeking help?"
I say nothing, knowing fully well that I have everything in control.
"You will answer me in this house!" Excruciating pain follows his words after Seto lifts up his left hand, and flicks. Red flashes across my vision, and I'm sure that some of my HP had diminished, still a large number, but slightly smaller than before. It... It is like another sorcerer is in the vicinity, strengthening the normally harmless-ish sorcerer into a... more powerful one.
"Enough!" I finally yell, Seto breaking his hold. I teleport to his side, and bring my sword up to his neck. "Whoever it is that is out there, come out, and now, before your friend is faded away to nothing!"
Nothing happens for a short moment. Unsure for a split second, I relax when I finally see another player come out from a wooden door across from Seto, her light brown hair catching the failing rays of the sunset outside. I regret my decision to not say anything to Amara or Phase this morning. No doubt they will be wondering where I am, and if I am going to save them, since Markus probably already told them his grand plan.
She looks shocked for a moment, from the appearance of the supposed dead brother, or the fact that I am holding a sword to Seto's neck, I don't know. When the initial disbelief dies out, she reacts almost as quickly as I would have. Without the disbelief, of course.
The unknown sorcerer runs up, and not before I raise up my free arm to block the hit. Why does she not even think about using her magic? It is the only realm I am forbidden to enter, thanks to the fact that Markus has several sorcerer and sorceress allies that had taken care of that ages ago.
Finally the foolish sorceress raises her small hands, but this time I am ready for it, unlike when Seto had pulled the trick on me before. Still holding onto Seto, I slash an extra dagger across her left arm (all sorcerers use their left hand to practise magic), and I watch her cringe under the pain.
"I won't be a threat to Seto or you, as you might need it now and in the future, if you help me with something," I growl, using my reputation as a "monster" to hopefully scare them into helping me. Why did Markus have to turn everyone against me, forcing me to use Seto and maybe this girl as allies? Why did no one listen to me when I said Markus is the real monster?
Seto uncomfortably shifts, probably because I am holding onto his shoulder tight enough to create a big enough bruise to last a moon. The girl raises her eyebrows at my request, and replies with, "It will depend on what kind of help we will need to give up. A spell, perhaps?"
I shake my head, and explain what has happened. "The sorcerers happen to be the ones I feel that understand me better than any other player or mob. That's kind of funny, especially after I lost the ability to do anything related to magic, even potions." I pause, always watching their faces for subtle movements, such as eye-flicking, or any type of movement that might suggest that they won't take it seriously and betray me the moment they can. After seeing none, I continue. "Two people have been captured, and it's my fault. My guess is that they are now posing as bait for me in Markus's view, and he now expects me to chase after them like a rat in some sort of maze. I... I was just hoping for you and Seto to join forces with me against Markus for a short period, and well, if taken carefully, we may just find a way to cause Markus to lose his leadership."
Ever since my monster had killed its first victim, and Markus finally had the chance to publicly hate me, Markus had been building his way up to the rank of a king. Everyone knew that the old king was going to die sooner or later, and with no son, he was forced to choose an heir of almost equal rank. When Markus finally reached that rank, with holding me captive at the meantime as leverage for the public's approval, the former king strangely fell ill at dinner, and was long dead in the morning. Markus had been in favour of the king, and was the "rightful" heir to the throne. Shortly after receiving power, he had banned the sorcerers from practising magic inside any village or town, and the sorcerers hate him for that.
I can see the girl slowly clicking the puzzle pieces inside her head, bright blue eyes shining with contempt for Markus. Seto seems to be a little more wary. He makes no sound or movement, as if this whole predicament seemed like no problem at all.
"We'll do it," the girl says hastily, glancing at Seto to make sure he agrees as well. He nods, although he doesn't seem too happy about anything. I nod at her direction, finally letting Seto go.
"Then we will meet together soon." Seto rubs his shoulder, a look of disdain written upon his face. I shrug before teleporting away, appearing safely at my palace in the Nether, safely buried away without any problems or anxieties... for now.
A/N ...I've changed my mind. Since a week is too long to wait again to write another chapter, I've decided to just update whenever I feel that an update is needed. But I promise you this: there will almost always going to be at least two chapters a week from now on.
