"Luke!" Cassidy shrieked when a pillow hit her right in the face. They were seated cross-legged, facing each other as they talked about anything that happens to come to mind when Luke decided it was funny to throw a pillow at Cassidy.
Luke laughed out loud, shielding himself with his arms when he saw Cassidy grab the pillow. "No wait, I'm sorry! Please don't-"
He was cut off by Cassidy smacking his face with the pillow multiple times. She grinned mischievously and stuck her tongue out at Luke playfully.
"Serves you right for chucking a pillow at my beautiful face." Cassidy exclaimed, hugging the pillow to her chest.
Luke pouted slightly, huffing. "It's not like it hurt that much. I threw it lightly."
"What is your definition of 'lightly', Hemmings?" Cassidy retorted, raising an eyebrow.
"Obviously the ones you can find in dictionaries. Duh." Luke flashed an 'are you kidding me' look as if it was the stupidest question anyone could ever ask.
Cassidy flicked Luke on the forehead and said, "You're such a retard."
Luke elicited a low chuckle. "If I'm a retard, then that you makes you just as retarded as I am because we're friends and birds of a feather flock together."
Luke nodded proudly at what he just said, earning a loud snort from Cassidy. "Who's the nerd now, huh?"
"Just because I use idioms doesn't make me a nerd. It just means that I'm smart."
"Then what are nerds?" Cassidy raised an eyebrow.
Luke sighed exaggeratedly and said, "Nerds are people like you who read all day to gain knowledge and are loved by teachers for being such good students."
"Hey, that's insulting!" Cassidy whined to which Luke shrugged in return.
"But wait, how did you know teachers love me? We were only in a few classes together."
Luke clucked his tongue. "Victoria said so." Then added, "Why weren't you and Ashton in Chemistry?"
Cassidy's breath started to hitch as she fidgeted, fiddling with the bracelet on her wrist. Luke noticed her discomfort and became suspicious. It seems every time he mentioned Cassidy and Ashton in a sentence, someone would look anxious and not say a word. What was the matter? Was there something he's not supposed to know about Cassidy and Ashton? If so, what is it?
Luke's eyes searched Cassidy's face for any sign that she was lying as she maintained a straight face and said, "I went to see Mr. Evans. I wanted to ask him about the field trip before semester break."
Luke nodded, buying her lie as her act seemed genuine and she didn't seem like one to lie. "What about Ashton?"
Cassidy shrugged, scrunching her nose slightly. "I don't know where that boy went. I didn't even see him during lunch." She lied.
Luke hummed in reply and leaned back against the headboard. Cassidy nodded slightly then grinned up at Luke.
"Wait, didn't you say that Victoria told you the teachers love me?"
Luke nodded in confusion. He didn't understand how one can switch moods so quickly.
Cassidy bounced a little on the bed excitedly and beamed, "Are you guys close? Do you think she's cute? Do you want to date her? She's single. I can set you guys up. Oh my god oh my god oh my god! This is so cute. When did you guys talk? Did the both of you run off to have lunch together because I didn't see you guys in the cafeteria-"
