Eleven – Shopping and Conspiracies
The sleek black shape writhed within the enclosed glass tube. Tendrils hit the surface. It was going mad. The liquid it floated in bubbled around it. It was clouded crimson, a deep red colour, that of blood. There was no mistaking it. As quickly as it had dissipated into the liquid and dyed it, the red was absorbed by the living object inside the glass. That's what sent it crazy.
There was no physical change. It just awoke in a fit of...something."It's not working"
The scientist looked up with a worried, and quite frustrated expression upon his features. The man standing next to him was dressed in a similar fashion. A white lab coat draped over his black waistcoat, and smart trousers. He was visibly younger than the man he had spoken to. He opened his mouth again.
"The blood isn't potent enough to trigger the change"
"I'm well aware of that" The first scientist, who happened to be in charge of the project, sighed irritably. He rubbed his temple.
"We only have one other option" The younger man spoke quietly. "Childs, is this really worth it?"
Childs' eyes were fixed on the sleek black organism they had grown in the test tube, watched as it finally calmed without a single change made to its appearance or physiology. He was lost in thought, his mind trying to come up with the best possible solution to the new arisen problem. The younger scientist was gazing at him, waiting for some sort of comeback.
"I'll have to inform Smith. He's the man we're working for. And if we need to go to more extreme measures to get the samples we need for his 'commission', we go through him"

The streets were busy in the centre of the city. Bustling with life, just a few days after the fiery incident. It was amazing how quickly people could move on, embrace a horrific event and keep going as if nothing happened. In this particular neighbourhood, people were better dressed, having more money than others. Women strolled down the pavements with their friends or their men, wearing the latest fashions, long dresses adorned with silk and exotic patterns, as well as smaller smarter skirts and heels. Men sported lavish coats with trailing tails, others, the best quality shirts and waistcoats, pure silver and gold pocket watches, the chains hanging from the buttons.
"I feel like such riff raff"
"Riff raff?" Em laughed at her companion's statement. She, Monster and Elise walked fast through the wide well lit streets. They were moving past the looming tall buildings. They were indeed grand structures. The shops were all brightly lit, the windows presenting all the newest and the loveliest things, this truly was a haven for window shoppers, let alone people with spending money.
"Monster, do you have a suit?"
"A suit?" The blue haired boy pulled a face. "No. Why?"
"You'll need one for tomorrow." The girl smirked. They all knew how the bluenette really didn't like wearing formal dress. Maybe since the last time he had to it wasn't fitted right. Elise still remembered how he would fiddle the tie and the cuffs. She laughed quietly.
"What's so funny?" Monster frowned.
"Nothing, it's just you" Elise grinned. She was between him and Em. The girl with short hair looked up. They were coming close to one of her favourite places. She grabbed the wrists of her twi friends and picked up the pace. "Come on, this is the place"
