Outtake – Dance

"So without any further ado, lets enjoy ourselves a little before all the formalities"

Em turned towards King. The music picked back up, quicker paced and upbeat. The people in the middle of the room began moving. Dancing.
Em frowned. Maybe this was the usual thing done on events like this. She wouldn't know. The dancing was nothing wild, slow, couples moved gracefully along the cold marble in time to the music.
Voss was caught by the arm, and pulled into the crowd. A confused look took over his face as he was lead along in a dance with a stranger. She was pretty, he tried to smile and not stumble. Now they would leave him behind for sure. Until he glanced to his side, and realised Monster had been pulled in as well. He was dancing with Em....no, the girl had shorter hair. He recognised her. She wore a wine red dress; her brown hair was short though it had no streak unlike Em.

"Elise, seriously" Monster laughed, trying to carefully place his steps in time to her movements. "Me and Em have a job to do remember?"

"I know" Elise smiled. She twirled, Monster frantically following and holding her hand, pulling her back in, the blush on his face brightening. "But it doesn't hurt to have a little fun. Like King said, enjoy yourself before all the formalities"

"I can't dance" Monster laughed nervously. He looked down at his feet to make sure he wasn't stumbling.

"Yes you can, just don't think about it" Elise pulled his chin up. They fell into a rhythm, stepping right and left in time with the crowd. Elise laughed. Monster grinned at her. From the corner of his eye, the boy caught sight of Em. Being pulled along by an older man in a suit. She was fumbling, but laughing. Most likely at herself.

"May I have this dance?"

Em turned, felt her hand being taken by another. She was led away from the previous partner, now in Voss' arms. The woman he had been dancing with swapped for Em. The girl looked up, into his eyes. The moment felt cliché, cheesy. She didn't like that; the same way she didn't like the sudden butterflies in her stomach. Or her heart rate increasing with every step.

"Are you blushing?"

Em looked away. She had realised just how long she had been gazing at the taller young man. Her footwork faltered the more flustered she became. "I hate dancing..."

"You're good at it" Voss smiled. He pulled her closer. He hadn't known her long, but emotions he harbored towards her were all genuine.
