Hayley's POV
"Hayley! We need you to put an IV and oxygen on this boy stat!" Dr. Jonson ordered running in with a stretcher so fast I didn't get a glimpse of the small boy's face. When we got to the room I quickly slipped on latex gloves and got the needle ready. "This will hurt a little sweetie." I said after tying the blue rubber strand around his small arm. When I looked at his face I nearly dropped the syringe. He had long dirty blond hair that was matted to his forehead with dry blood. His sad brown eyes stared at me through is long lashes, and his rosy cheeks were stained with fresh blood and tears. His arms, legs, and face were covered in purple and blue bruises completing this broken look. "Asher?" I asked. "Nurse Quinn now!" Jonson howled. I snapped out of shock and went back working quickly. "Done." I said more to Asher then to Dr. Jonson as I smoothed the tape holding the tubes. "Thank you now please check on a Miss Ariana Elizabeth Parker." Dr. Jonson told me as other doctors rushed Asher toward the Operating Room. I nodded and walked out the door looking at the charts as I walked through the halls until I reached room 298 which had the girl's name in the slot by the wooden door. I walked in to find a girl Asher's age with tan skin, wavy brunet hair, and bright cerulean eyes that looked like sapphires. "Hello sweetie, my name's Hayley, I just came to check on you." She smiled softly and sat up, with the help of her mom. "Do you need anything?" I asked smiling. "Can I have an extra pillow and maybe a movie to watch." She asked shyly. I nodded grabbing a pillow from the cupboard tucking it under her right leg, which was wrapped in a bright red cast. "Sure what movie? We have lots of Disney ones." She thought for a moment before requesting Tangled. I retrieved it from the our bookshelf full in the game room and put it in the player in her hospital room. "Anything else before I leave?" I asked. She glanced at her mom as if looking for approval, then back to me when her mother nodded encouragingly. "Any information on my bestest friend Asher Nathaniel Payne." She said determined. "As a nurse I can't give away any information of other patients." I informed making tears well up in her eyes and a frown fall upon her small round face. "But," I continued, "as his aunt I can tell you that he is being treated, and that he will be alright." She smiled through her tears nodding, relaxed more. "Get some rest, when you both feel alright you can visit Asher." I told her with a grin then exited the room.
Alyssa's POV
Liam paced back and forth in front of the uncomfortable red wooden chairs that the others and I sat in. Tear tracks were stained on my flushed cheeks as I bit my lip in concern and anticipation. "Liam will you sit down please, you're making me nervous." I sighed. He glanced at me, quickly sat down in the seat to my left, and took my hand in his, intertwining our fingers. The huge waiting room was sterile with white walls with little to no pictures hanging on them and red furniture sparingly placed on the white tile. The place had the smell of cleaning products, which didn't smell bad necessarily, but gave an uneasy certainty that one was defiantly in a hospital. It was silent except for the low murmur of doctors or other patients talking and the occasional cough, sneeze, or sniffle. Two racks of magazines stood in opposite corners of the room, each holding about twenty out dated magazines of different companies and topics. A man in a white lab coat and a stethoscope around his neck, walked into the waiting room through a door that led to the rest of the hospital. "Guardians of Asher Nathaniel Payne?" He questioned reading off a clipboard. Liam raised a shaky hand and waved him over, scared of what this man was about to reveal. "Which are the parents?" The doctor asked confused. "We are." I informed raising Liam and I's intertwined hands. "My name's Dr. Jonson, and... Well I'm afraid I present you with bad news." He explained with a sigh. I held my breath as tears brimmed my eyes, waiting to hear the worst. "Asher is fine health wise." He started trying to calm us before breaking the ice. "I'm sorry to that, he has lost his hearing." I let out a sob of relief and sorrow and buried my face into Liam's chest, letting him wrap his arms around me in comfort. "The man who did this is known as Ernest Foster, a friend of Asher's biological parents, who has previous charges of child abuse. Now he has been caught and sent to prison for his previous charges and the charges of the shooting and holding Asher as hostage and harming him as well. Asher has permanent damage due to Mr. Foster cutting his eardrums with a knife. He also might be timid and paranoid due to what happened." Dr. Jonson informed us. Liam rubbed my back, his chin resting on my head trying to calm me, though he too was crying. "You may see him, here's a card for him to learn sign language, I suggest you all take a class, seeing as he is so young this will most likely be the only communication besides reading and writing." The doctor said handing me the card. We stood and followed him through the hospital until we arrived at room 297. "I wish you the best." Dr. Jonson said walking away to treat other patients.
CeCe POV
I reached out and turned the golden knob, pushing the door open. We all walked in and took a chair, Liam and Alyssa on either side of Asher. I fished a notebook and pen out from my backpack and wrote a note for Asher, he could read and write way beyond his level. I got up and handed it to him watching his eyes light up and a smile make its way on his small face. 'We love you Asher!' It read. He reached out for the pen in my hand, I handed it to him smiling softly. 'Love you guys too :)' he wrote, holding it up for everyone to see. Just then there was a knock on the door. It opened revealing a little girl in a wheelchair wearing a hospital gown, a red cast on her leg. "My name's Ariana, Asher is my best friend, I was wondering if I could say hi." She said shyly. "Of course sweetie, but he can no longer hear, so you'll have to write him a note." I explained handing her the notebook and pen. She nodded taking each and scribbling her message before handing it back and wheeling herself to his bedside. I read the note before handing it to him it said a simple 'Hi Asher!'. Asher's smile grew as he wrote back. This went on for about a half an hour before Ariana went back to her own room and everyone but Alyssa and Liam decided to head home for some sleep. "We'll be back first thing tomorrow." I yawned grabbing Lou's hand and heading out of the hospital room.
