Epilogue: A New Life

"My Lapis...I love you..." Lapis looked up at the pink sky and the strawberry fields around her. She turned to Peridot and looked as a butterfly landed on her finger. The butterfly floated off and she poked the general's nose. Peridot blushed and smiled. "I'm glad we're on Earth now. Let's go back home and check on Steven." Lapis nodded and the two went to the warp pad, warping back to the temple.

Steven looked up from the couch as the two returned. "Hi Lapis..." he bit his lip and turned away. Lapis frowned and sat beside him. "Steven...I'm really sorry...about the gems..." Steven let a tear fall from his eye. "I did my best to keep you safe. I care about you. If I wanted to save anyone it was Peridot and you." Steven nodded and looked at the shattered red gem in his hands. Peridot sat down by him as well. "I'm so sorry I shattered Ruby. But it was...it was the kindest thing to do. She couldn't go on without Sapphire." Steven's eyes watered. "So Ruby and Sapphire were Garnet?" he choked. Peridot nodded. "I'm so sorry. I know the love I feel for Lapis. It's the same love Ruby and Sapphire had for each other. Ruby couldn't manage..."

Steven got up and went outside. Lapis and Peridot looked at each other and frowned. "I'm sure he'll get better..." Lapis said. "Maybe we'll let him spend time with his dad..." Peridot nodded. "We'll keep an eye on him." Lapis walked to the window and found Connie walking up to Steven. "Peridot.....I think he'll be okay..." Lapis walked up to Peridot and hugged her tightly. "I love you general..." Peridot smiled and blushed, hugging her back.

Steven, Connie, and Greg sat across the campfire and roasted marshmallows awkwardly as Peridot and Lapis watched. Greg finally broke the silence. "Soo...you guys are gems?" he asked. Peridot nodded. "We'll take care of Steven...I-I'm sorry..." Steven and Connie looked at each other. "Didn't you try to take the ocean?" Greg asked, pointing to Lapis. "I...eheh, yes...but I won't do it again..." Peridot smiled and put an arm around Lapis. "Steven...I'm sorry. I'll do my best to protect this planet. It actually is beautiful." Steven stared, with stars in his eyes. "Especially love." Peridot smiled getting her screen out. "Lapis...I found a song for you. I'm going to play it..." Lapis blushed as Steven, Connie, and Greg smiled.

(...Sorry for the rushed ending, but I kind of lost interest in this story! It was almost finished anyways so I made a epilogue instead. ^^ The song at the end is Yellow by Coldplay.)
