It had been a week since Zoeya had gone missing. Nano worried for her friend's safety. Lalna was off on another date with Charlie, so she had the base to herself. She walked around her tiny Noodle Bar, wiping down one of the few tables it contained. She patted her Tiny Potato, Spudnik, on the head, smiling at its tiny kawaii face as it bounced up and down with delight. To get her mind off of Zoeya's disappearance, she pondered what to make in her kitchen. She decided to make a milkshake and set about gathering the ingredients. She was about to go fetch some milk from the computer when the door opened. A man about 24 years old walked in.

He was Hispanic, with shaggy black hair and a crooked smile. He wore a blue T-shirt and a black hoodie, light blue jeans with red sneakers and a Batman baseball cap. Nano liked this person immediately. He sat down at a table and ordered a bowl of chicken noodle soup and some grape soda. As she got the ingredients from the chests in the small kitchen a set of steps away from the dining area, she noticed him staring at her. She wanted to hide behind the tree that served as a menu board and divided the kitchen from the dining area.

He was staring at her flux. It was rather hard to miss, what with it being purple swirls that covered most of her arms and the right side of her face, turning one eye milky lavender. Her friends were used to it, but it must have been quite a shock to the man who had probably never seen anything like it before. Wait, she never got insecure about her flux, why was she embarrassed now? "Erm, cool purple. Is that like a tattoo or something?" Relieved, Kim gave him his food and replied, "Sort of. Hey, what's your name? I've never seen you around before." "Oh, my name is Elijah, and my Chosen Name is Eritai. I just moved here, first time away from home actually. You have a really cool base," he said looking around appreciatively. "My name's Kim, my Chosen Name is NanoSounds, but most of the time I'm Nano or Kim." "Cool. These are really good noodles! Esto es bueno, eres un cocinero profesional?" "No, se trata de algo que hacer en el lado. Gracias, anunque!" ["This is good, are you a professional cook?" "No, this is something I do on the side. Thank you, though!"]

They chatted a bit more and agreed to meet at the Noodle Bar every week. Kim couldn't wait.

Then Duncan ran in covered in mud and blood, panting, "Charlie's gone!" before passing out.
