A Toxic Love

Chapter 14- Caught in School

the next day arose and when i got to school i found Nadz and Umi and told them that nothing was going on between me and Jake. 

"So what are you guys now though? Like, friends with benefits or something?" said Nadz.

"I don't know," i said. and that was the thing, i really didn't. sometimes (usually when were around the others) we'd just act like mates and take the piss out of each other, but when it was just us and we were on Snapchat, it was a whole other story, he would call me babe and ask me how my day was and if anything was troubling me, as if we were more than just friends. however, he always said he never wanted to be more and i was fine with that, but he didn't act like he just wanted to be friends. 

i had arranged to do another photo shoot as the one we did the other day was lets be honest, pretty shit and it was mainly us all talking about "bananas". so i brought in my big camera again and we started taking pictures of Louise and Jake and Nadz (who invited herself along) after school. we went to the big steps that was next to the Sixth Form building in our school. it was so cold that day so i felt kind of bad when they had to take their coats off. when we finished taking pictures i stole Jake's coat as a joke to see if he'd notice. it was clear he did as he then stole my coat. we hung out for a bit afterwards and just chatted for a bit. being with them all made me so happy. i knew these were memories i'd never forget. don't get me wrong i loved hanging out with Katie and the others too and i wouldn't trade them for anything in the world, i had just never felt anything like what i felt when i was with Jake and Louise and the others. i had such a strong feeling that these friendships would last forever. 

"Hey Anisa can i ask you something really quick?" said Nadz. I nodded and we went somewhere else so we could speak in private. Jake saw me talking to her in private.

"What's up?" i asked.

"I understand your situation with Jake, which is why i want you to be careful. A relationship like that can be toxic, that's something you aren't and we don't want you to get hurt. so be careful," smiled Nadz. i smiled back and we headed back to the group.

Jake was watching us walk back and tried to keep a straight face. he looked at me and i smiled back at him. i sat down next to Jake and showed him some of the pictures i took.

"What did Nadz say?" he asked.

"She was just asking me about the pictures, and told me that i better make her look nice," i smiled. Jake chuckled back.

Later that night i called Imy. i had to tell her what was going on, she was my best friend and i need her, i always will. when i told her my situation she was pretty shocked.

"Oh my God Anita you kinky bitch!" she laughed. "Nadz caught you two! I can't believe you! this is like the best chick flick ever told!" she continued to laugh.

"Haha i know right, but don't tell everyone this is between me and people closest to me," i said.

"Of course sweetheart, but be very careful. sometimes these situations can be toxic and destructive, and i don't want you to be part of something like that, you are worth so much more," said Imy.

"Thank you honey, but don't worry, Jake isn't like that. he's not an idiot, and he's worth it. let's remember hes my friend too," i smiled. "I'll talk to you later and don't worry i'll keep you updated," i said and closed the phone. 

just then a got a text from Louise, it read: bring your hair curlers tomorrow, i want to curl my hair thnx xx

After receiving that text i couldn't help but think not only what amazing friends i have but what an amazing best friend i had. she was always there for me and made sure i was never unhappy because she was convinced i deserved better than the best. sometimes a best friend is the best companion to have.
