The next morning, Killian awoke with a smile on his face. Hopefully Emma would come into the bar and he could flirt his way into her heart. He got up and got ready for his long day at work. All day girls were seeking his attention like they usually did. Killian was a lady's man. Usually one night stands was all he did, never getting into serious relationships, but Emma was different. He was finally ready to admit to himself that he was ready to go out on a real date and have a serious relationship. Killian grabbed two glasses and filled them with whisky and gave them to two girls sitting at the bar.

"Thank you Killian." They said in flirty tones at the same time.

"Just doing my job." He said. The only girl he was going to flirt with was Emma.

"Killian how about after your shift, we go back to my place?" One of the girls whispered in his ear so only the two of them could hear.

"I think I'll pass. I have plans." He walked away to serve more people.

The girl's mouth dropped open. Killian never said no to any offer of a one night stand, at least that was what anybody could remember.

It was a long day and eventually at 9:00 sharp the familiar blonde with green eyes walked in and sat down. He almost shoved a drink to someone so he could get her one before any of the other bar tenders could.

"Well I must say that no matter what time of the day it is, you most certainly are beautiful." Killian said sliding her a glass of rum.

Emma blushed. "I have to say the same for you."

He smiled and hopped over the counter and sat next to her.

"You have to work." She said. Her gaze couldn't stay still. She looked at every feature he had.

"I'm taking a break." His eyes were glued to hers.

"Taking a break just for me." Emma took a sip from her glass. "I wonder how many other girls you've done this to, especially your girlfriend."

Killian almost choked. He admitted that he slept with girls and talked to them for one day, but he never took a break from his job just for their attention. "You know I never have done this for a girl, and I don't have a girlfriend."

Emma got a surge of butterflies. But they quickly dissipated. 'He has to be lying. He has probably done this to every woman in here, and has probably said cute and nice things to everybody. What makes you think that you are any different?' She thought to herself. "How do I know that you aren't just using me?" Emma said.

Killian leaned in so close to her that his stubble gently scraped the side of her face sending chills down her spine. "I would have already had you." His voice was low. He backed up and kissed her cheek then hopped over the counter again. "How about we go out on a date."

Emma looked over at him. She was still processing what he whispered to her, now he wanted to go out on a date. "I'm not saying no, but can I think about it?"

"Of course love. Take all the time you need."

Emma stood up, threw the money down and drove home. She was pacing and walking around in circles in her living room. 'What's the harm? You are just going out on a date. It doesn't mean anything.' She called her best friend Mary Margaret. She asked her what she should do. She just simply said to give him a chance. Emma hung up and went back to the bar. She was shocked to see that Killian wasn't there.

"Hey Robin, where did Killian go?" Emma asked.

"He went home for the night. Why do you need him?" Robin asked.

"I just need to tell him something and it really can't wait until tomorrow. Do you know where I could find him?"

Robin gave Emma Killian's address. Seeing that she was deputy, the townsfolk knew she wasn't about to cause trouble if she asked anybody where anyone lived. Killian was in bed and he was about to drift off to sleep when there was a knock at the door.

"Bloody hell." He cursed under his breath. He went to the door and opened it to see Emma. "Swan what are you doing here?"

When he opened the door he was shirtless and in sweatpants. Emma had to fight to keep her eyes on his. "Um I wanted to tell you that I would love to go out on a date with you."

His eyes lit up. "Really okay." He looked down and remembered he was half decent. "My apologies love, hold on." He went into his bedroom and came back out with a shirt on.

One part of Emma's mind was happy now that she could concentrate, but the other didn't want his shirt on. She was still standing in the doorway.

"You can come in." He said. She did and shut the door behind her. "So how about I pick you up tomorrow at seven. Would that be good?"

"Absolutely. That's perfect."

There was a moment of awkward silence.

"Well I should go." Emma said walking to the door.

"Right well I'll see you tomorrow." He opened the door for her and she stepped out. "Sorry you had to see me half decent."

"Oh uh it-it's okay. Happens to the best of us. I'll see you tomorrow." She practically ran back to her bug. "Happens to the best of us? You're an idiot! Watch him like you now." She said to herself as she was speeding away.

Killian climbed back in bed, and from his bedroom window, he could see her car. The little yellow car that sped away into the darkness and away from him. The only words he could think of were, "Damn."

When Emma got home she looked at the time. 10:43. Early for a bartender to get off of work. She looked out her window and saw the clock tower that was in the center of the town. It said the same time it always had. 8:15. Everyone had always wondered when it would become fixed or when it would move, but nobody had an answer.
