Prologue

You looked at Korra only think I wonder if. You decided a long time ago that you were a freak. But Korra always made sure you felt normal and accepted. When you showed her you could bend air and water, the gentler elements, Korra just simply told you she was the Avatar, you believed her. You grew close and soon began to spend the night every so often with her and her family. Your parents were so disappointed in your bending. They said you were a freak and hanging out with someone like Korra would only make it so much worse. You ignored them anyways. But when you and Korra were practicing water bending you told her. You told her your parents hit you and showed her the bruises on your torso. Korra only frowned and promised not to tell anyone. Then they came, you like to think of them as your saviors. The White Lotus. They walked in just as your parents were about to come and get you.
"Korra! (YN)!" You heard Korra's mom shout. You followed Korra hopping through the wall in a less over the top way.
"Hello Korra." One said stunned.
"Hey, (YN)'s here to." Korra arched an eyebrow.
"Right and (YN) we are here to discuss some terms Korra. We want you to come with us to a safe house. We would train you to become a great Avatar." One of the other men said.
"(YN) lets go home. Now." Your father said smiling at you tensely. You looked up at them eyes wide in fear.
"She's okay to stay." Korra's mom offered gently.
"We really should get going. Wouldn't want to be a burden would we, (YN)?" Your mom added on.
"She's always welcome. She's perfectly okay to stay here with Korra." Korra's Dad injected.
"I want to go with Korra!" You shouted. Everyone was stunned. Your voice never raised above the inside voice level.
"I want (YN) to come with me!" Korra shouted too, she grabbed your hand squeezing it.
"I can't stay here. Mom and Dad hit me. Often. I am a freak and I want to be trained to embrace my inner freak." You begged. The men exchanged glances. "It's not like they want me anyways!" You shrugged. The men talked in hushed voices before they looked at you and nodded.
"What do you mean by freak?" One asked. You made a ball of air in one palm and a ball of water in the other. They all nodded. You spent the night at Korra's for the last time in a while.
TWO YEARS LATER
You and Korra were eight years old now. Training a lot now that the White Lotus found it time since Toph Bei Fong was a master earth bender at that age. Your once shortly (HC) locks now fell to your shoulders and held up in a ponytail constantly. Master Katara was giving you lessons on water bending today. It was your first lesson. First we showed her what we could do. Korra made an octopus thingy which made Katara laugh. You made a small wave and as it crashed at Katara's feet you pulled it from the ground and went to freeze only for the water to lash out and fall to the ground. You looked at your feet and stepped back beside Korra.
"You both have a lot of work to do." Katara smiled then the real work began.
FOUR YEARS LATER
"They were right!" You shouted at Korra. The two of you were twelve. Your snow leopard snapped her icy gaze in your direction.
"Who was right?!" Korra shouted back. This was your first fight.
"My parents! Hanging out with you with made me worse!" You snapped.
"Liar! I make you better than you'd ever like to admit!" Korra screamed.
"By being better than me and constantly reminding me of how far I have to go and how little you actually have to go?!" You snapped quieter.
"I push you to be better, to make you more confident and you say I make you worse. How dare you! I saved you from your parents and you still just AHG." Korra screamed louder. You walked away Neva, your leopard, followed. You sat near the wall of the safe place cold whipping around you as you cried.
ANOTHER FOUR YEARS LATER
You and Korra got over that fight long ago and haven't had another one since. You were a master of water and even better than Korra was with the element. But now you were pissed. Korra left for Republic City. Without you. You grabbed your motorcycle racing through the blizzard and onto a boat. There you slept until the boat opened and you took off your bike speeding through the streets of the City on your way to the temple.
