I got up to Riley and she was at the top of the hill, her head rested on Leo's neck. Leo nickered to Cody and Riley knew I was there but didn't look up. I didn't know what to say so we just stood there in silence and stared out at the stable. She sat up and looked at me her eyes red with tears.
"I didn't mean for it to happen, it just, I couldn't." She whispered, her voice shattered.
"Riley you don't have to explain I understand." I said debating weather or not to tell her about the boy I met and walk up inside his house. She was silent for a moment.
"Chevy I think I love him." She said and I knew she thought of herself as weak and naive. If it was one thing for Riley to admit to her feelings about her horse and a crush on a boy but if she said love then a big thing was happening here, because Riley only loved one thing and that was her horses.
I didn't know what to say to that.
"Well staying on the back of a horse isn't going to help ya." I said. She looked at me like I was a experiment she couldn't figure out what went wrong.
Then with eyes full of passion she said, "No, but it makes my feel stronger."
I felt a little ashamed for what I said but I brushed it off and decided to tell her.
"I met a guy." I blurted. Her eyed lit up and she looked at me.
"Really who?"
"Jack Wells." I said, she stared at me.
"He just moved here and....I woke up in his house this morning." I admitted. She gasped at me and a soft smile appeared on her face.
"You slept with the new kid!?" She asked excitedly.
"No, just woke up in his bed with him on the couch, actually."
She stared at me like she didn't believe me.
"I'm serious, ask him for yourself tomorrow." I said.
"Oh I will." She said and this seemed to make her a little happier.
We stared out over the stables, pastures, and large pond for a moment before she let a long sigh and said, "Wanna race?"
"Oh your on." I said already turning Cody around and galloping back toward the barn. Cody was in the lead for a while until the last moment and a red blur ran fast past us, reaching the barn first.
