The haunted Jail House part 1

Hi, I'm Mai Taniyama. I'm a 20-year-old college student. It'seems been 3 years since my boss Kazuya Shibuya, or Naru as I like to call him, left for England and left me with a broken heart. Since then, I've been slowly regaining from the heart brake. I've moved on and I have a new boyfriend who I like. Ayako, a 27-year-old shrine Maiden, and Housho Takigawa (or Monk as I call him),  a monk from Mt. Koiya, are married and happy. Masako, a TV show medium, has already moved on and is now currently dating another medium named Tsukoba Nii.  Yasuhara is a senior in college and is currently single. John, an Australian priest, is still keeping his faith and still is single.

Naru:

It's been three years and we are currently heading towards the SPR offices. 'I wonder how things have changed?' I thought to myself. Lynn, who was walking beside me, is probably thinking the samething. "Are wondering about Mai, Naru?" The Omnioji said. "It is none of your concern. Now let's hurry along."

We reached our destination and entered  through the front doors. We were greeted by an unknown man with red hair and bright bluish green eyes, he wore a white and black striped t-shirt and black slacks. "Welcome, you must be Kazuya Shibuya. I have heard so much about you. I'm Akari Tsukiba, it is nice to meet you finally." I look at him with a stern, expressionless face. He just made a small smile and signaled us to follow him.

We entered the lounge and found the whole team waitin for us. "Welcome back Naru!" Everyone said. The man who lead us went and sat down by Mai on one of the sofas. I watched as Mai and the boy looked at me like they were expecting me to say something. Ayako broke the silence when she said "So how are you two love birds doing? Its been a while since I've heard from you two." "We're doing great. Mai is the best." Akari said. "I'm glade you feel the same way Akari." Mai said while Akari took her hand.

My eyes widened at the sudden statement. 'Mai has a boyfriend? When did this happen?' I thought to myself. I glare at the boy called Akari, who seemed to not notice as his attention was on Mai. I wanted to just rip him apart. 'What? Why am I feeling this way?' As I thought that the phone rang and Mai got up and answered it.

"Hello Shibuya Physic Research, Mai speaking. Okay I'll tell him. Bye now. Hey Naru I think we have a case if your interested. There's a mansion that is being haunted. Apparently they hear knocking sounds, things will start moving on there own, and at least once a day a vase is being thrown at a member of the family or some one is pushed down the stairs." As Mai says that she gets kind of nervous and kind of scared at the same time.

I took down everything she said in my black note book. I look as Akari comforted the shaking Mai. "We'll take the case." I say while glaring at Akari. I walk back to my office. "Mai tea!" I say from behind the doors.

Mai:

"You never change do you Naru. Would anyone else like some?" Everyone shook there heads and left saying they need to hurry and pack up. Lynn walked back to his office. All that was left was me and Akari. Since Akari was working under Naru as a second assistant we got to see each other every day.

I walk into the small kitchenette, unknowing that Akari was quietly following me. Once in there, I was surprised when Akari grabbed me from behind and said in a low voice "Guess who." "Is it Akari?" I say in a playful tone. "Correct! And your prize is a kiss." Akari said as he leaned forward and  kissed me on the cheek.

"Do you want some help princess Mai?" He said while bowing. "No thank you sir, but would you like some tea my prince?" I say and we started to laugh. "Yes I'd love some." Akari said before walking out. 'How did I get so lucky to get a guy like him?' I thought to myself.

A few minutes later I walk into Naru's office and didn't see him. I walked over to his desk and set down the cup by his computer. 'I wonder where he went?' As I think that some one grabs from behind and turns to face me. "AKARI!" I squeal. "Mai thanks for the tea." He whispers in my ear and kisses me on the lips. "At least you say thank you Akari, unlike my nassisistic boss." "Isn't this your boss's office." Akari says and we start laughing.

I leave Naru's office and head to my own. When I got there I close my door and was about to start on the paper work I was  given, when a slight knock loud enough for me to hear comes from the other side. "come in" I said and open the door. I see Naru on the other side and let him in. As usual, with his face showed no emotion and he spoke in his egotistical tone. I set the cup of tea beside him and turn. As I walk back to my desk I was stopped by someone grabbing my wrist. I turn to see Naru looking straight into my eyes, as if he's trying to tell me something. I get my hand away from his grip and walk back to my desk. 'That was strange. What's gotten into him?' He walks out of my office and heads towards his own.

Naru:

I left Mai's office and head to my own. 'She's changed' I thought to myself. As I'm trying to work I can't seem to get Mai out of my thoughts. 'What's going on I've never felt this way before. What is it? Its like I'm being drawn to her.' As I'm trying to sort these things out I hear someone laughing outside my door. I get up and peek through. I see Mai and that Akari guy making jokes and laughing. I feel anger and jealousy build up inside me.

'That should be me making Mai laugh not him. Who does he think he is? I'm going to...Wait what am I doing? Why am I thinking these things? Why is there this anger and jealousy I feel towards him when I see them like that? Do I...like Mai?' As I think these things I don't notice the red surfacing on my cheeks.

"You finally figured it out little bro. I was wondering how long it would take you to realize that." "Gene." Hey little bro how ya doing?" "Shouldn't you have passed on by now Gene? Why are you here?" "I can't visit my little brother? That breaks my heart noll." "Skip the dramatics and tell me what you want." "Okay geez, all I wanted was to see the look on your face when you finally realize your feelings towards Mai." What are you getting at Gene?" "What I'm getting at, is the fact that you love Mai, and you can't stand seeing that boy with her. Am I right?" "Maybe, maybe not." "Hahaha, your totally falling for her. That blush on you face proves it."

I turn my face to hide my embarrassment. "Come on noll you can't hide your feelings forever you know." "So what if I do that doesn't change the fact that she already has a boyfriend." "Not for long noll, look." I Glace at Mai who seems to be crying. I hear on theit conversation. "But why Akari? Your the best boyfriend I'll ever have. Please don't leave me!" I hear Mai plead. "I'm sorry Mai, but I have to accept this. This could change my future!" "What about us, huh? Are you just expect me to just wait?" "No! I know you'll find someone else. I have to go or I'll miss my flight." Mai is still crying as Akari gets off the sofa they were on and leaves.

"See. What did I tell you noll? Nows your chace." I walk towards the crying Mai and sit down beside her. She looked up tears streaming down her eyes. She wraps her arms around me and starts crying on my shoulder. I sat there and put one arm around her. She just kept crying and crying. She was just looking for some comfort, and I was just happy to hold her in my arms.

Eventually she just cried herself to sleep and I just sat there with her head in my lap. As she slept  I  gently stroke her hair trying not to wake her up. I didn't want this moment to end. Even though I knew Lynn was watching me I didn't care. I'll just lecture him later. I just sat there stroking her hair trying my hardest not to kiss her in her sleep.

The Next Day: Mai:

I woke up late that day and was running to work. When I finally got there I was welcomed by Naru with a lecture on how late I was. He finally got bored and we all got into the van. But surprisingly he sat right next to me in the back seat.
