Haunted or Human Part: 1

I AM SOOOOO SORRY FOR THE LONG WAIT. I'VE BEEN THROUGH SOME TOUGH THINGS, BUT IT SEEMS TO HAVE CALMED DOWN ENOUGH NOW. THIS STORY WILL BE BETTER THAN THE OTHERS. I PROMISE. HERE GOES........

MAI:

I'm standing in the kitchen preparing tea for Naru for the umpteenth time. "Mai! where's my tea!" shouted a very annoyed Naru. The others were all busy, and today's Aine's day off, so it's pretty much just me, Naru, and Lynn. I shout back "It takes time! Besides, I'm already done!" I carry the tray of tea through the small door next to Naru's office. when I walk in the room was in complete darkness. Naru glances up at me. His eyes follow me as I put the tray down on his desk. 'He's kind of freaking me  out. What is he thinking?' I head for the door when I feel a sharp pain in my abdomen. I bend over clutching my stomach. "Mai.....?" Naru says looking me confused. ".........." I try to say something but can't get the words out. He notices and stands from his chair. Then he realizes. "Lynn!!"

Moments later, Lynn came through the door ans sees the situation I'm in. Naru quickly came to my side, supported me. I look up at him and see the worry in his eyes. "........Naru........" was all I could say before I lost consciousness in his arms.

NARU:

I'm standing there panicking. "Mai! Mai!! MAIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!" Lynn places his hand on my shoulder. I look up and face him. "We can't help Mai standing here. Lets take her to the hospital." With his suggestion, I slowly regain my cool. ".....Right." I nod and carry Mai to the car. It was a 15 min. drive, but the speed I'm going, it'd take me about 5 min.

AT THE HOSPITAL: NARU:

We're waiting inside the lounge. I'm pacing back and forth while Lynn's attempts to calm me down fail to reach me. About 30 min. later, the doctor comes back with a look of excitement and concern. He walks towards me and stops at least one foot from me. "Are you Ms. Taniyama's friend?" the doctor addresses me. "I'm her boyfriend." I admit without thinking. "Oh! Then I'm just going to start with congratulations." "Why?" Lynn left leaving me and the doctor. "Your girlfriend is pregnant!" the doctor says. I'm standing there trying to absorb the news. When it finally hits me, I ask the doctor the room number and quickly run to Mai.

I'm walking into the said room in the pediatric ward. Mai's sitting on the bed with a look of shock on her face. I stop right in front of her. I pull up a nearby chair and sit down. There was a moment of silence when Mai breaks it. "I'm sorry." I look at her confused. She starts crying. I stretch out my hand to comfort her when she hugs me tight. I hug her and rub her back to comfort her. "It's okay......" I whisper to her calmly. "I know it's shocking,...... but we can get though this. I promise." She tightened her grip and I sat there trying to comfort her.

After a while, Mai has calmed down, I was still sitting in the chair next to her, and Lynn was now, standing in the corner of the room typing on his phone. "If he doesn't have a computer, Lynn's typing away on his phone, or something that has buttons." Mai says trying to cheer herself up.

That's when the doctor came in. "Well. I have some good news, some regular news,aannd some bad news." We all turned to the doctor. "The regular news is that you're about two months along. the good news is that the baby is healthy, so nothing wrong there. The bad news....... is that the baby is experiencing some sort of different development." Mai looks at the doctor confused. "What do you mean? Will the baby be okay!?" Mai is starting to panic.

"Calm down! The baby will be fine. The baby seems to be developing some kind of spiritual energy while it's developing inside you. This is uncommon, but not impossible. Right now it's in it's weak stages, however, it's rapidly growing. So, you might experience some of the power surges from the baby going through you because it can't control it." Lynn looks at Mai. "Is that why Taniyama passed out?" "Yes, that is possible. Though it could also be from fatigue." I stand up and bow to the doctor. "Thank you. Is it alright we leave?" I straighten up and waited for the doctors answer. "Yes.... But remember, if the surges get to strong just come back and we can stop it." Mai stands up and bows. "Thank you Doctor." "Good day." Mai rises and we leave.

OUTSIDE THE HOSPITAL: AYAKO:

I'm standing outside my parents hospital when I see Naru, Mai, and Lynn walk out. I quickly hid myself in a nearby crowd and Videoed them. "Careful Mai." "Sorry!" "Well, you need to be more careful. I'm not going to let my girlfriend get herself killed." Naru is holding Mai close after saving her from a fast ambulance coming by. 'Oh my god! they're dating and we don't know! This explains a lot.'

I continue watching them as they walk to a Naru's car. "I'll be fine! It's not like I'll slip and fall trying to get in the car!" "Okay." was all Naru said as he opened the door for her. she hopped in, he closed the door, went around to the drivers side, got in, and drove away. Lynn tailing behind in his own car.

I'm standing there watching them drive off. "So. It looks like the reason why those two were acting strange is because they were secretly dating." 'Wait till' the others hear about this.' I walk back while texting everyone to meet up tomorrow at the office.

THE NEXT DAY AT THE OFFICE: AINE:

We're all here except Ayako and Monk. Mai and I were serving tea when they arrived. "Welcome!" I take them by the arms and lead them over to the Waiting Lounge. I let them go when we got there and served them tea. "So, why did you call us all here?" I asked in a cheerful voice hoping it was some good news. "You're in a good mood today. Did something happen?" Yasu asked teasingly. "Well, I'm just hoping it's good news. I'm not really into gossip." "Well, well, looks like somebody turned her into a preachers wife." Monk said laughing. I started getting Agitated. I shoot him a glare. "What did you just say?" I say angrily/scarily. He hid behind the couch. Monk peeked from behind. "I'm s-s-s-sorry." I smile relieved. "Okay! Now, back to business." I turn around and sit next to John on the small love seat/couch.

Everyone had looks of fear and relief. "Man John, I'm glad she's your girlfriend. It's your good-nature that's keeping you alive." Said Yasu. John set down his tea cup. "Well actually, she's upset." "What for?" asked Mai. "Because my dad is trying to convince me to come back and live with them." "Why?" "Because he thinks that if I stay down here any longer I'll never come back." "He just misses his oldest daughter." "Yeah, if you count the family ranch running low on hands as 'missing your oldest daughter.' He just wants me to come back and take over the family ranch." "He can't take you anyways. You have a job! Not to mention a boyfriend who literally freaked when he thought he was going to lose you." We all laugh at johns red face.

"Alright. Why did you call us here Ayako?" Mai asked with her usual smile. "Well actually, I called you all here because I figured out what the secret those three have been hiding...." Aine, Naru, and Mai had shock written allover their faces. "What do you mean?" Mai asked innocently. "Don't act innocent. I saw Mai and Naru yesterday. And, I just happened to overhear them talking about Mai being Naru's Girlfriend." There was a short silence. And then,...... "WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I nearly went def with how loud they were. Especially Masako.

Mai and I were holding our aching ears, Naru just stood there with his head down. "When did this happen!?" "You knew about all this Aine!?" "Calm down. I only knew about it cause I can sense dead and living spirits, and I can access their inner most secrets through their spirit." "So, you got this from reading Mai's spirit?" asked Masako. "Actually, I got it from Naru." "Oh really?." Ayako asked devilishly. "I don't lie, but like i said, I'm really not into gossip." "Aine's a good person! She doesn't lie, But she can keep a secret until she dies, or others find out." "Whoa, Mai. Easy. What's Gotten into you?"
