When we got to the stable, Ian showed me where I would sleep. It was up in the loft. I could see that someone had already been there because a straw mat, a bowl for washing, and a chair were set up. Studying Ian as he showed me how to do all of the chores, I found that he was muscular and he had big hands. His eyes were a piercing blue and his muddy brown hair was up in a ponytail which I guessed if let down would be shoulder length.

“This work will put muscle on you soon enough.” He said as he walked out brushing hay off his pants. I looked down at my skinny frame. It would be nice to have a little muscle and the work would give me something to do other than reading stupid books about politics. The horses were beautiful animals. There were 3 brown ones, 2 chestnut ones, and a big black one. I didn't know what I was supposed to do because Ian had just done everything for me so I decided to get to know the horses. The first one was a brown mare named Samantha. Looking at her told me she was an older horse. Her fur had gray streaks in it and her eyes were kind of glazed over. Lovingly she nudged my chest with her head and I laughed and pushed her away. Beauty was another brown mare but she was younger, no bigger than a large pony. Sadly she didn't show much interest in me so I moved to the 3 horses. Maggie was the last brown horse and Chestnut and Autumn were the Chestnuts. Autumn was a lot rounder than any of the other horses and it wasn't just fat. She was expecting a foul .The black stallion was last. His name was Velvet and he was massive. He reared when I entered the stall and bit my hand. My hand started bleeding and I wrapped it in my shirt. All the horses were beautiful animals and I couldn't help but feel peaceful. Suddenly I sensed someone behind me. I wheeled around and saw another one of Lord Doyle's servants. He was a small stout man probably in his early 20's with a large nose and miniature hazel eyes decorating his face. He had a few wrinkles near his mouth but they were more like laugh makes then actual wrinkles. Under his nose was a small brown almost peach fuzz mustache that was attached at his cheek bones to the rest of his hair.

“The master has 5 other horses in the pasture and he's buying 3 more.... Oh you've been bitten!” He said. ”Was it Velvet? He's got quite a temper. Let me see your hand.”

I looked down at my bloody hand and remembered that I had indeed be bitten.” It doesn't really hurt anymore.” I said holding out my hand.

“Yes, but it could get infected and we don't want that happening.” He said as he washed the blood off in a nearby bucket of water and wrapped it in a clean bandage. “Oh by the way, I'm Collin, Master Doyle told me to come get you.”

“Alright I'm coming.” I answered and followed quietly behind him.
