Chapter 2: Improving

~A Week Later~

I've been at this huge boarding school for a week now and have got stacks of homework, literally, you get use to it though, I'm use to it now, if you don't at least try your homework you miss out on supper, I can see why people say this school is strict, it's like STRICT, I'm quiet in my classes and the teachers well mistress's love me, except the receptionist who is always giving me a hard time, I don't know why but she is, I don't be rude to her but she is to me and it's starting to really piss me off, I haven't gotten to meet Annie's friends yet cause we're all too busy with homework and our schedules are tight, mornings have a shower if needed, get dressed, pray and sing hymn, class, eating, more classes, homework and it repeats, Saturday's were stuck inside to do homework and Sunday's is church and feast in the great hall which is like a cafeteria but isn't, you don't pay and you don't get to sit next to boys, girls on one side and across from them are boys.

"Katniss, your wanted in madams Coins office" madam Perkins says in her soft voice, she's my favourite teacher, about twenty, long black hair but wears it in a bun everyday, blue eyes and very pretty. Everybody looks to me and I stand slowly from my desk and I go with sir Frankens who is in the head committee, I follow him across campus and he takes me to zone D where the teachers dorms are.

Sir knocks on the door and we hear a 'come in' from inside, he opens the door and let's me in and she's sitting at her desk

"Thank you sir Frankens, you may go" she says

"Yes madam" he says and shuts the door

"Sit my dear" she says gesturing to a chair across from her and I sit down

"I've been getting your mistresses and sir's reports on your behaviour in the classroom" she says

"May I ask what they said madam" I say

"You may, it's all good reports, better from what your last school said, your handing in homework on time and pay attention and try hard in class, I'm very proud of you" she says

"Thank you madam, this means a great honour to me" I say and she smiles

"You are released" she says and I stand and walk over to the door and walk out.

"That's what madam coin said?" Annie asks unlocking our dorm room door

"Exactly that" I say walking in and putting my heavy bag on my bed

"We should start our homework if it's due on Friday" Annie says and we get out our stuff and sit on my bed

"Okay so for the first question is write a complicated equation that equals to 15" she reads and I do the math in my head

"Got it! x^2-10x+y^2-20y=-125" I say as we write it down

"Okay now we work out how to find out how we get 15" Annie says

"It's simple, if you put it into the original equation to find that x=5 and y=10 it will equal -125 as the original equation says so now x+y=5+10 which gives us 15" I say after we write it down

"Wow your super smart" she says

"I'm not, you just have to think about it" I say and we finish off the rest.

~Friday~

"It's such a beautiful day" I say as Annie and I's class walk to the library

"I know! Still Summer but it's nice and cool, it feels like January and February is over" she says

"Yeah well it is almost March 12th, first day of Spring" I say

"True" she says.

We walk into the library, it's pretty cool, got two floors with shelves of books

"Okay class now you look for books Shakespeare wrote" sir Fiddlestone says, Annie and I call him fibblestone, it's so funny.

I sit next to Annie reading none other then Romeo and Juliet, Annie is reading Antony and Cleopatra, this library has EVERYTHING from divergent to TFIOS, from animals to insects, from modern day to history, from parliament to court, a lot, it's filled with fiction and non fiction.

"Ms Everdeen tell the class what your Shakespeare book was about" he says as we're back in class

"My book was Romeo and Juliet, a tragic love story between a man and woman who their parents forbid to be together, they would rather die then not to live with each other" I say

"Okay that's very good, say a line from the book" he says and I try to remember a line to say

"You are a lover. Borrow Cupid's wings and soar with them above a common bound" I say

"Very good Katniss!" He says and I smile and he goes on, teaching us things.

Annie and I watch TV after we got changed in our PJ's cause it's only 5:30pm and then my phone rings

"Hello?" I say turning down the movie

"Katniss! It's mom!" I hear her happy voice ring through the phone

"Oh hey mom!" I say

"How's school been?" She asks

"It's been rather well, I've already impressed my head mistress" I say

"Oh Katniss that's wonderful!" She says and I smile

"You got any friends?" She adds

"Yeah Annie Cresta" I say

"Oh! That's a pretty name!" She says and I roll my eyes

"Here's your father" she says

"Hey little Katniss bear" he says

"Hey big daddy bear" I say and he chuckles

"How you holding up" he says

"Pretty well actually" I say

"I'm glad your enjoying it there" he says

"I am but miss you guys to bits" I say

"We miss you too" he says

"Can you put Macky on" I say

"Yeah, we were just about to tell her to go to bed" he says and I laugh a little

"Kitty!" She says, when she was one she couldn't call me Katniss so she called me kitty and she's the only person who will and does

"Macky! How are you little sister" I say

"I'm okay, it's blaring without you here" she says

"It's boring without you too" I say

"I'm sad that you'll miss my birthday" she says

"Don't worry I'll send you a gift" I say and I can just imagine her smile

"Yay! Thank you!" She squeals and gets the phone taken off her

"So, any boys caught your eye?" Mom says

"Mom!" I say

"What?! I'm curious!" She says

"No not yet" I say

"Dinner!" Madam Shrader yells banging on our door

"Yes madam!" Annie and I say

"I gotta go now mom, bye"

"Bye! Be good" and she hangs up.

Annie and I and all the group of girls follow madam Shrader to the great hall and we have dinner.
