Chapter 4: Surprise!

~A Month Later~

"Guys I still don't understand why we're not in our school uniform and why NO ONE is around" I say and they just smile and keep walking

"Guys, come on! What are you doing?!" I say getting impatient

"Calm down, just a little further" she says and I sigh, we end up at the great hall

"Why are we here?" I ask as we step up the small steps

"This is why" Clove says and her and Annie open the doors and a few seconds later

"Surprise!" Everyone jumps out and when I mean everyone, I mean everyone, students mistresses, sir's, head committee, they all planned a surprise party, just for me, I'm starting to like this school more and more everyday

"Oh my goodness! Guys! This is awesome!" I say smiling and all my friends hug me in a group hug

"Let's have some food!" I say and everyone laughs and we all dig in to the delicious food, hotdogs, corn dogs, party pies, cocktail sausages, sausage rolls and punch, like always it's delicious.

"Hey Katniss" Peeta says coming up to me while I'm talking with Annie, she smirks

"I'll go see if Finnick hasn't eaten everything yet" she says and I smile to her but in the inside I'm strangling her

"Hey Peeta" I say

"Do you like the party?" He asks as we look at everyone

"I love it, who came up with it" I ask

"Me, Annie, Clove, Cato and Finnick, talked to head mistress and she was with it" he says and I smile

"I haven't had decent friends like you guys since seventh grade" I say

"Why is that?" He asks

"Because I always drive them away" I say

"Well you can't drive me away, I'm going to stick with you if you hate me or like me" he says and I smile

"Thanks Peeta, for being my friend" I say

"You forgot best friend" he says and I punch his shoulder

"Don't ruin the moment doofus" I say and he chuckles

"Hip hip hurray!" Everyone cheers and I blow out the 1 & 7 candles and everyone cheers and I smile, madam Perkins cuts the cake, I get first slice, it literally makes my mouth water

"Mm this is amazing" I say too Annie

"I know Peeta has always been a great cook" she says and I choke on the cake

"Peeta made this?!" I say and she nods

"No one else knew how to make a cake like this but Peeta, at least the school didn't waste their money on that crappy cakes down the road at the bakery" she says and I look to Peeta who's laughing with Finnick and Cato

"You two should go out already! Your both typically in love so why not go out?!" Clove says

"Yeah, no, I can't ask him out, it'll be too weird and awkward, even if he does like me I want to wait till he asks me out" I say and they grown

"Your being soooooo difficult!" Annie says jokingly

"Can't be mean, it's my birthday" I say and she rolls her eyes.

"They like threw a surprise party and everything!" I say to my mom on the phone

"Wow! What a wonderful thing that is!" She says happily

"And guess what" I say

"What?"

"Peeta made this beautiful vanilla cake which had happy birthday Katniss and a 1 and 7 candle on it"

"That's truly amazing, we've sent you your present and should get it in the morning" she says and I check the time, 9:30pm

"Well, I better go, got church at eight in the morning tomorrow" I say

"Okay darling" she says and we hang up

My mom has been having trouble sleeping but won't say why, she has been acting rather strange since four weeks ago, I wonder why?.

I walk to the front desk after church was done to receive my package that my parents sent for my birthday.

I walk up and the blonde chick who is madam Mckain, the one who hates me

"What do you want" she sighs rudely

"Uh to pick up a package" I say and she sighs placing it on top of the counter

"Can I ask why your so mean to only me?" I ask

"Why don't you ask your happy parents!" She says and I take my package, okay then, she's super rude.

I go to my dorm and I start opening it and I gasp, I pick up a picture, not just any picture, a ultrasound, a little blob and mom done a arrow leading to writing which says your new little brother or sister, I let silent, happy tears fall, I then pick up a photo frame and a note and I open the note

Happy birthday my sweet Katniss, your a big girl, eighteen! Woah hoo! Now I'm guessing you've seen the ultrasound picture.

You see this photo frame? It's you and me kiddo, I love you so much! So does your father and brother and sister and the new baby that'll be here in eight more months! We love you, and can't wait to see you this Christmas! And New Years! Love you always

I smile, I'm gonna be a big sister! I'm so excited! I run downstairs after putting my stuff pack in the box and shutting the door and heading to the great hall where their all eating, I sit next to Annie who is with Clove and the boys

"So... What was in it?" Clove asks

"My moms pregnant!" I say quietly

"Oh my gosh! Congrats!" They all say quietly

"I'm so excited!" I say

"What gender do you think the baby is?" Cato asks

"I think it'll be a boy" I say and they all smile, best birthday gift EVER!.
