She looks up at me. Her blue eyes are so round, I wonder what she could have possibly been feeling, but that wasn't right. Guardians can't feel emotion. They, we, run off knowledge, which is far more efficient than emotions. I think of Abes and I wonder if we made the right choice. Again, I think I am the only one who wonders this and I know it's unhealthy. Too much uncertainty, I need to focus. "There's something we need to talk about," I repeat to Aram. She smiles at me. It looks forced. I go ahead anyway. "I've been thinking about the operation." She freezes, the phony smile melting from her face as quickly as it had appear. Her eyes widen. This was not the reaction I was hoping for. "A-a," she struggles to get the words out, "a baby? Now?"
