Part 14

When I get to the front gate of the school, I see that Zero has already been here because the Headmaster's body is slumped against the wall. I put Toga's body next to the retired hunter and kiss him on the forehead.

I truly am sorry Toga... Please forgive me... I shake all of the guilt I feel off and walk to the lake that I told Zero about.

"Its about time you show up." Is the first thing that he says to me when I get there. I roll my eyes and bend down to get a drink from the small body of water. "So now what do we do."

I nearly choke on the water. "What?"

Zero looks at me with a weird expression. "What do we do? Now that we are out of the school, where do we go? Are you really that dumb that you didn't know what I am talking about?"

I get up and look him in the eye. "No, I knew what you said. I just wanted to know if you knew what you said."

"Of course I know what I-" He stops in the middle of his sentence. "Oh."

I roll my eyes again. "Anyway, there won't be a 'we'"

"What?"

I sigh before I speak. "My plan was to get you out of the school. I have no intentions in going with you anywhere."

He runs his hand through his hair. "You know that you are a very misleading person."

"Why would you say that?"

"Because I thought that you were going to go with me."

"Oh." Is all I can say. Well, he's not wrong about that. I walk towards him. "Do you want me to go with you?" He only nods. "I need words Zero."

"Yes I want you to go with me, (Y/n)." Zero says quietly. He walks towards me and grabs my hand. "Please, come with me..."

"When you say that, you sound like a child saying they're scared." I smirk.

"Shut up." He brings me into an embrace. His head is buried in my neck. "Just come with me."

I stiffen when I feel his nose brush against the bite mark on my neck. I want to go... I really do. I just dont want to be his snack bar. I sigh deeply before pulling away from him. "And if I go, will you continue to drink from me? To be honest, I don't fancy being used as a food source."

He tenses up when I say that. "I didnt mean to do that. The pills that the headmaster supplies all the vampires with dosent work on me. My body rejects it."

I pull away and look into his purple eyes. "When did you turn?"

"What?"

I sigh and take a few steps back. "When did you turn into a vampire?"

"Youre going to leave me on my own because im a vampire?!" He roars.

Come again? Why the hell is he getting mad at me?

"I never said that!" I yell at him. "Don't make assumptions!"

"Then why the hell can't you come with me?!" He replies.

"Because Zero, unlike you, I actually have a family to go back to!" I cover my mouth immediately after I say that. "Zero... I didn't mean to say that..."

All he does is stare at me wide eyed.
