ASHLEY
I woke up in the one place I never wanted to see again. The Blue Moon pack house. I was in one of the guest bedrooms.
I sat up on the bed, rubbing my head. My throat was hurting. if I touched it, it burned. I got of the bed and walked towards the bathroom.
I switched on the light and saw my reflection in the mirror. My throat was purple and bruised. There were finger marks as clear as day.
"Fuck." I walked out and towards the door. I tried to open it but it was locked. I didn't even have enough strength to kick it down.
I was still wearing the same clothes from the mall. I got to my knees and checked my boot. I still had my knife. At least that was comforting.
I tried trying to link Zack or somebody but all I got was a headache. Great, I was cut off from anyone. They must have lined the room with wolfsbane.
I looked out the windows. Wolves were patrolling and half of them were my friends. Guys I used to hang out with before I left.
I don't know if Carter forced them to guard or the are doing it of their own free will. I heard yelling from outside the door.
The door burst open and Chase came in yelling at the guards outside. He slammed the door, breathing heavy. "Lee." He sounded sad.
He rushed forward and hugged me. It felt comforting, knowing at least there was still somebody I could trust. Someone Carter couldn't control.
"Chase." I was shaking which surprised me. I guess I didn't realize I was this scared. "Ashley, I'm so sorry. I didn't realize Carter would bring you here." He said, letting go of me.
"Did Carter do that to you?" He growled, looking at the mark around my neck. I nodded. "Oh God. It should heal in a couple of hours but.."
"Chase, I can't stay here. I don't want to stay here." I whimpered. "Lee, I can't help you get out. Carter has guards around me all the time because he thinks I'll let you escape."
"So basically, We're both prisoners?" I asked, smiling a bit. "I guess so." He smiled back. "Just like old times, eh, buddy?" I asked, sitting on the floor.
He took a seat next to me. "Getting in trouble, getting caught, me doing some fast talking and getting out of trouble and then our brothers blasting us. Minus the brothers."
I smiled at his attempt to make me slightly cheerful. "Thanks, Chase." I said, smiling gratefully at him. He smiled back.
"I can't stay here for long. If Carter knows I've been here for more than half an hour, he might snap and take his anger out on you. I'm not gonna let that happen." He said.
I smiled at him gratefully. "You're like the brother I never had." "Don't tell that to Jake. I don't want him to murder me to get his spot back."
He got to his feet. "I'll go now. I have some business to take care of." He smirked and I raised an eyebrow. "On the way here, I saw Sandy,Kenneth and Theo. I just glanced at them because I was too worried about you at that time."
He gave me one last hug. "Be careful. I trust Carter about as much as I would trust a lion to turn vegetarian."
He walked out the room and the door snapped back into place followed by the sound of the lock turning.
I walked to one corner of the room and leaned against it, sliding down to the floor. I usually did this when I needed to think.
I don't know how long I just sat there, left alone with my own thoughts, before the door opened and Carter walked in. His eyes scanned the room before they stopped on me.
