ASHLEY
Things immediately started to go wrong. We both lunged at Carter but we underestimated an Alpha. He grabbed me by the throat while lifting his leg and kicking Jake backwards. It was hard to see through the rain and the hair plastered to my face.
"You pups really think you can beat me?!" He laughed humorlessly. "I'm an Alpha for God sake. You don't stand a chance." He threw me next to Jake but I barely felt the pain.
I got to my feet. "And I'm a she-wolves on a mission. Didn't your mother ever tell you not to mess with an angry she wolf?!" I smirked before lunging at his abdomen.
I rammed my head into his stomach and he made a squeaking sound. He fell backwards and I started to punch him, landing blow after blow.
He caught my wrists in his hand. He pushed me away and jumped back onto his feet. We growled, circling each other. "This war was not my fault. Your mate's stupidity got my mate killed!" He yelled.
"So get back at him by taking me. How did it feel, Carter, when you found out I looked like Victoria and I was mates with Zack?" I taunted and he snarled.
"It must have burned. You must have thought the Moon Goddess really hate you. It must have eaten you alive, seeing me and Zack together at the mall. Tell me, how did it feel?" I snarled and he lost his patience.
He lunged at me and I sidestepped. He rolled into the grass behind me and came up, his snarls combining with the thunder claps.
His nails elongated into claws as his canines lengthened. "You don't know anything about me!" He growled and sprinted towards me. His claws slashed at me but I sidestepped, his claws swiping through air.
I sidestepped towards the left and I bumped into a tree I hadn't noticed. His claws slashed downwards and raked across my right cheek. I stumbled backwards, raising a hand to the bleeding gashes on the side of my face.
Blood was dripping down my face, combining with the rain water. It was getting harder and harder to see. "CARTER!" Jake appeared out of nowhere and lunged at Carter, tackling him to the ground.
His mouth was bleeding but he seemed okay. I ran over but Carter grabbed him by the throat and pinned him against a tree. He landed a punch and Jake spat blood. I grabbed Carter's hand, trying to pry it off Jake's throat, slowly choking him.
He backhanded me and I crashed against a tree. "I didn't want to do this, Jake. You left me no choice." He punched Jake once more before dropping him and turned towards me, pushing his wet hair out of his face.
He walked over and I backed up. He shifted his wolf, snarling as he approached me. I realized that this was the exact same clearing in which I had fought the rogue while trying to get away from Zack.
Zack. Thinking about him made me want to cry. I didn't know if I would make it out alive of this fight. I got to my feet. "I'm not going without a fight!" I growled, pulling out my silver knife. Carter had once felt the burn of this knife.
"We end this. Here and Now." I screamed like a banshee as I threw myself at him, trying to drive the knife into his back. He dived to the right and I rolled, coming up kneeling.
My left side tensed as Carter lunged at me. I pressed myself against the ground as he flew over me and crashed into a tree. He got up, snout bleeding. Part of me didn't want to continue this fight and at some point be forced to kill him.
I still had the memories of my old pack when he used to act like my brother. Both of them tailing me and Chase in their free time, to get us out of trouble. I got so caught up that I didn't realize Carter had lunged.
