Chapter 12: Shift

Phoebe's POV

The man who was apparently Luna's mate (yes, I read books with mythical creatures), was beside her. Chase and Kory walked behind Leo. They seemed to know where they were going. Did they belong to this pack? I guess so since they don't have any problems with where they are going. Luna and I were just following them without knowing anything.

All was quiet and calm until I felt a sharp pain. Out of nowhere, I just dropped to the ground, the light was dim outside from the moon. Everyone turned towards me and watched. Chase, Kory, and Luna were looking at me in fear.

"She's not suppose to shift." Chase whispered.

"Actually, she is. I took the locks off of her and her friend." Leo spoke calmly. " I knew that they had locks but I removed them. It shouldn't be long for the other one."

Not long after, Luna was in the same condition. Her mate growled at the other guys. Chase, Kory, and Leo just shook their heads and told him to calm down.

Luna and I screamed out in pain from our bones cracking. Everything was breaking and deforming into something else. The pain was unbearable but it wasn't so bad for us to go unconscious. We were in a bawl type of form nearly on the ground until the pain stopped. We went to stand up and we were shorter than the guys. I looked towards Luna, she has auburn wolf with green eyes. Her eyes are usually hazel but this time they are green. I looked down to see my black fur. I ran over to a pond near by, my eyes are purple in wolf state. My attention turned towards my clothes, they were in shreds. Great, now I don't have clothes.

"Don't worry about clothes. Run now, clothes later." Someone spoke and I was confused. "I'm your wolf, dear."

I didn't reply but I did start running with Luna beside me. It felt great. Soon after, we were being followed by four other wolves. Two with light brown fur, but one had blue eyes who I realized was Kory, the other one had hazel eyes which I realized was Luna's mate. Another wolf, Chase, has dark brown fur with dark brown eyes. The last wolf would be my brother, he has gray fur and green eyes. All four were following us.

"After your first run, girls, you have to follow us to the pack house where we will supply you with clothes." My brother spoke through mind-link.

I nodded and looked to my side where Luna was nowhere to be found. My eyes scanned the grounds for her. She was beside her mate. It was cute. They stood side by side and cared for each other. I didn't have that yet.

Not long after our first run, we ran towards the pack house. My brother shifted behind a tree with his friend. Chase and Kory did the same. All boys were clothed. Luna stood by my brother's friend who's name that I picked up which would be Tanner. She didn't leave his side. Chase and Kory stood far away from them. Leo went to go get clothes then bring us to their Alpha.

"Other males aren't allowed to go near unmated couples. If they are going to mate, then you can't go near them or the male will rip you to shreds." Chase explained.

I nodded slowly. Even if I have only known them for a few weeks now, it feels like I have known them my entire life. Kory watched us without a word.

"No. Chase and I don't have mates yet. We could try and find them but only the moon goddess chooses when we will meet them." Kory explained.

My attention was turned towards Leo who emerged out of the door with clothes for Luna and I. It didn't take us long to get dressed. Shifting back was a bitch. Literally. As soon as I got out from behind a tree to join Chase and Kory, Luna was holding hands with Tanner. No mark yet so nobody could go near her exactly.

"How was your first shift, Phoebe?" Kory asked me as his arm went around my shoulders. Chase did the same.

"It was a bitch. Quite literally." I growled. They laughed at my comment.

"Knew it." Chase replied. "Don't worry ours was too."

"How was your first run?" Kory asked.

"Amazing." I breathed out. It really was. Being a witch was fun but being a werewolf is more fun. "Will Luna ever get out of her love state?"

"Nope. They will just get worse." Chase said with a small smile. "She won't be able to see us as much. With the way she is, her mate will occupy her life."

"That is sad. I won't do that. I still want friends, thank you very much." I spoke as their eyes grew bigger.

"Mates don't do that much." Kory spoke slowly.

"So? I haven't been listening to the rules lately. What makes you think that I will even listen to tradition?" I questioned them. They laughed this time.

"Sure you will, Phoebe." Chase said as he chuckled.

"Shut up, dork." I teased. These are the best friends that I will ever have. Luna will still be here, just not as much as we would like.

Silence went over us for a minute. Luna and Tanner were in their own little world while Chase, Kory, and I haven't moved from our position. Leo was standing nearby as he watched over us.

"Are y'all ready to see the Alpha?" Leo asked.

Luna and Tanner didn't reply since they weren't listening but we took their silence as a yes. Chase and Kory nodded. All I did was shrug, I don't really know what will happen so I don't know whether or not to say yes.

"Good, I will go tell the Alpha that we would like to see him. I will be right back to come get y'all to see him." He said one last time before leaving.

After a few minutes, Leo ran back outside to come see us all. He had a big grin on his face.

"Come and follow me to see our Alpha."
