I worked at one of the most prestigious hotels in New York city. It wasn't a choice, it was just something that came about when I needed it the most.

It was rigorous work, but it wasn't always hard times for me.

When I first moved to New York I fell in love with a gangster named Dimitri Finite and he fell for me, but our love story ended tragically.

Unfortunately for me Dimitri wanted to make sequels, so he would pop up where I was. He was everywhere.

He ran this town of this town and when I was with him the world was my playground.

I had the best sandbox a girl could have- new york city.

The land of disruption and disturbance.

I loved it.

But I wasn't cut out to be the lover of a gangster.

My affair was always with the city. The city I ran to when things were bleak.

But it all changed that one night.

"Alright every one tonight is very special to this hotel. We are hosting the after party for the grammies and every one is going to be there- and by that I mean celebrities- important people!"

I listened to manager as he went on and on about the party we were catering.

It was important to the reputation of this place.

We were having a staff meeting at my job.

"Williams..." I heard my boss shout my name.

"Yes sir."

"You're going to be working the floor tonight by that I mean you're going to serve our guests." I nodded.

I hated serving these people. But regardless I got dressed in my uniform- a suit and tie with a long black skirt-and grabbed a platter full of appetizers.

I walked out the door to the party and I saw Dimitri.

As soon as I saw him I dashed away. I was serving people but he came up to me.

"Hey lori-bell" I scowled at him "aww you don't miss me?"

"I hate you. Dimitri, you know what you did and you're wrong-"

"you are my property-"

"Go to hell! I need you anymore"

"I'll be back for you, I love you lori." He rubbed my chin and I jerked away

I walked away.

I was so frustrated that in my haste back to the kitchen I ran into a man.

"Oh no I'm so sorry..." I put the tray on the table and I got a napkin I didn't even look at him I just started rubbing the stain on his tie.

"Ms. It's fine."

"No I can't-"

"It's ok." he grabbed my hand to stop me and I looked up at him.

His eyes were just so beautiful. He pulled me up.

"Hi I'm Peter what's your name?"

I couldn't answer him I was stunned.
