Lady

Bruno and I walked upstairs and we grabbed our suitcases.

I was feeling so overwhelmed, with me being pregnant and my mother basically disowning me, I was just emotionally distraught.

We walked down the stairs and Bruno held my hand as we walked down.

Tonia stood at the bottom of the stairs.

She smiled at me.

"Good luck with your new life baby sister. I hope you'll be happy."

"I will be. Thank you Tonia."

"You're welcome. I love you."

"I love you too." She hugged me and I hesitantly hugged her back.

She kissed my cheek. "Be safe out there."

I nodded my head into the nape of her neck.

She let me go and I started walking with Bruno.

"Lori anna!" I heard my momma's shrill voice call my name.

I turned around and she stood on the porch.

"Gone on and run little girl. Gone on, cause you ain't never gonna be nothing Lori anna. You was always trash and tonight you proved it."

Bruno turned around and faced my mother.

"What the fuck is wrong with you?! How can you talk to your child that way? That's your daughter!"

"No. She isn't."

She looked at me and I felt my heart break. Then I just...

"Lori anna!"

"Get out of here!"

"Baby sister! Stop!"

"Lady!"

I just ran.

I dropped my suitcases and I ran out down the hill into the night.

I felt the tears falling down my face as I ran.

I had to run and get rid of this feeling.

I couldn't face them.

"Baby slow down!" I stopped running an I fell to the ground, letting out a wailing noise.

I felt Bruno's arms around me.

"It going to be okay baby." I just cried.

"I need my daddy! Daddy help me!"

"Baby please..."

"He left me! He left me with them bruno and all they ever did was... I hate them! I hate them!"

"Lori stop! Get out of the road!" He pulled me closer into his arms.

I cried on his shoulder.

"Shhh baby don't cry. Your dad he's always with you and I know he's proud of you for what you did back there."

"You think so?"

"I know so lady."

"Oh my goodness. I love you so much."

"More than words?"

"More than anything!"

"I can't wait till your my wife. And you have the baby"

"And were a family"
