Caleb's POV:
Briiiing
The bell rings at WestHigh Middle School, and thank goodness its the last period of the day. "Ok everyone, remember to do your homework." said Mrs. Andel. Ugggg, math homework is the one subject I'm terrible at. But I know who can help me. Brandon.I meet Leyla, my sister, in the front of the school, talking to her friends, walking down the stairs. My sister is a year younger than me, but is taller. And has long dark brown hair and brown eyes, like my eyes. She's just come from track so her hair is tied up in a ponytail.
"Hey sis, ready to go?" I ask. "Ok, see you later Ashley. Yeah I'm ready. Are we going to the park first to see Anthony and Brandon?" "Yeah, I got homework to do with Brandon." As soon as I finish saying that, we're walking to the community park.
------------------------------------------------
As we arrive, I see Brandon and Anthony playing a card game (War). Brandon, the jokester of the group, black hair and blue eyes. Anthony, quiet one, brown hair and green eyes, great with computers.
"You finally made it. What took you so long?" asks Brandon. "How did you get here so fast? I just texted you five minutes ago to meet us here." nags Leyla. If you can't guess, everywhere in our town is very close. "Woah, calm down. We ran here because Brandon wanted to play War." "Anyway,"- I interrupt " Brandon can you help me with my Algebra homework?" "Sure, just let me and Anthony finish our game."
As soon as the game was over, and Anthony won, Brandon helped me with my homework.
Leyla and Anthony went to the swings and ... swung. They always talk to each other. (I'm pretty sure they like each other.)"If x=15, then what is 8x+16?" "136?" I question. "Yep! See you know what your doing, you just got to think!" He always says that when I ask him for help, but on my part I ask for help .... a lot.
As soon as everything is beginning to be quiet, its not anymore. The "Popular kids" come strolling down the sidewalk. Kad and his crew, bunch of dumb butts who think they're better than everyone. And they walk straight over to me and Brandon. They have always had a way to get on our bad sides.
Kad, tall with black hair and the tips brown, brown eyes, and has a a scratch down his cheek. "Hey Caleb, having a fun time with your friend doing something." Katlin, short blond hair, and has blue eyes. "Yeah, what are you doing anyway?"
"We're doing homework, so can you just leave us alone." I force. Christopher (AKA Chris), shorter than usual 8th grader. Black hair and brown eyes. "Did you hear that. They want to fight." "He said to leave us alone, not fight." Says Brandon. As soon as I'm about to push them away, the picnic table we are sitting at explodes!
------------------------------------------------
As I regain my consciousness, I'm looking for my friends thru the dust cloud of the explosion. Why did it explode in the first place? While I'm wondering why and looking, I run into something. Something bigger than me. It looks like an asteroid, but feels metal. And as soon as I touch it, a piece of it opens up and reveals a jem- wait, a jem broken in half. Why is it broken, I'll never know.
As I touch the rock, Black.....
