Chapter 17: Too Late

Caleb's POV:
When we catch up to Leyla, we find ourselves at a crossroad of four halls. "Which one do we go down?" Anthony asks. "I don't know." I say worryingly. "Why don't each of us take one path, and the one to find the right hall contacts the others. Sound good?" Brandon says. We all nod. I take the right (with Henry bot), Leyla takes the left, Anthony takes the center-right, and Brandon takes the center-left.

When I get to the room at the end of the tunnel, I'm amazed. They have the biggest headquarters I've ever seen! Flat screen TV, soda fountain,giant supercomputer (not saying Henry isn't awesome), I think you get it. I search for the items everywhere, but nothing was there. Then I get a call from Leyla saying, "Guys I found the, AHHHHHHH!!!" and her line cut off. "That can't be good." Henry says floating off. I go after him.

When we arrive at the crossroad, we see Brandon and Anthony running over. "Did y'all get the transmit too?" Anthony asks us. "No, I came down here to leave." Brandon says sarcastically. "Come on guys, we need to go save Leyla." I yell at them. They stop arguing, and we go down the left hall.

When we get down the hall, its defiantly the room with the items in it. There floating in the air, spinning around the Dark gem. And Leyla, is trapped in a cage made of fire, and she's struggling to summon water because of the heat. "I'll go save Leyla, you two go and retrieve the items." I say, running to save my sister. But before I get to her, Katlin pounces on me. "Where do you think you going Bug Boy?" She snarls. "Away from you!" and I blast her away with my laser eyes. I fly over to Leyla's cage and ask, "Are you Ok?" "Yeah, just hot." I blow the cage away with the gust my wings. She drowns herself in water. After that she replies "Better."

When I turn around, the items have a forcefield around them, and Brandon and Anthony are fighting Kad. The mummy and werewolf come towards us. "Ready to fight?" I smile.

"Yeah." She says grabbing her whip. We run toward our enemy's with weapons in hand. I slash at Chris, but he dodged barely. Leyla's whip hits Katlin straight in the face, making her tumble back. She gets up and growls, and tackles my sister. But I'm too preoccupied trying to stop Chris's strings from lashing me.

All of sudden, the Dark gem glows violently. Me and Leyla throw the two into each other, knocking them out. "Come on, we need to separate them." I yell to her. We fly over, and forgetting, I slam into the invisible forcefield. "Oww." I say rubbing my head.

"Attack the forcefield." Anthony says, hitting it with his axe. Brandon's fighting Kad by himself now. I slash at the barrier with my chainsaw-sword while Leyla's whipping it. Focus Caleb, put all your power into it. I stop to focus. The blades start spinning faster. Then I slash. BOOM! The forcefield explodes sending everyone to hit the walls of the room.

"Uggg." I say looking up. I broke through. But it's too late. The items combine; the leaf melts on the rock, making the rings glow brighter. The dark energy got absorbed by the rings. The rock explodes, and the rings flow into the Dark gem. FLASH!

I look up when the light is gone, and man is floating where the jem was. He looks directly at Kad and says "Hello son."
