Claudia's POV

-You're on loudspeaker so control your language- I said as I took out my eyeliner from the navy make-up bag- You're gonna be here soon, right? Alex's already prepared everything for your Toy Story marathon.

-Well about that...- Lars started with a weirdly weak, lifeless voice- I'm afraid I'm not longer available today.

-What happened? You sound like you're dying.

-And trust me I do feel like this. Mats and I went to that new Chinese restaurant next to our place and let's just say that my stomach didn't really enjoy the exotic quisine.

-Food poisoning, huh?- I replied trying not to stab my eyeball with the mascara wand .

-More like slow, miserable perishing of my stomach. I'm really sorry Claudia but I don't think I can take care of Alex today- Lars said with a pained voice.

-No need to be sorry Lars. After all it's not your fault that all your stomach accepts is junk food. I'll find someone to babysit Alex- I assured even though it wasn't such a certain thing. I didn't want Lars to have guilty conscience- Mats should make you a pot of chicken broth. This should help somehow.

-I will. Sorry again Claudia. Tell Alex I'm sorry.

-I will, now go get some rest mister "I'm slowly dying". I'll call you when I finish my work- I said before hanging up.

I looked at the display slightly worried. I had to leave in 20 minutes and I had no babysitter. Welcome to the perks of being a single mother.

I quickly dialed Charlie aka my closest workmate but he didn't pick up. Probably he was too busy with snow jobbing another girl.

Apparently every single person, who's number I had in my contacts, was too busy with their lives to answer the damn calls.

When I was really close to exploding out of anger I heard the doorbell ringing.

-Mommy is that uncle Larry?- Alex asked with his sweet voice as he entered the bathroom.

-Unfortunately uncle Larry can't come tonight because he's sick- I answered as I took his tiny hand and leaded him to the hall.

-Sick? Why?

-Because he ate unhealthy food and now he's tummy's hurting- I said before opening the door.

Good I did that before opening them because for a while I wasn't able to talk.

Bastian was standing in front of my flat and all I could think about was our last kiss. His soft lips on mine, his strong hands embracing my body...

I could feel my cheeks turning immediately red.

-Schweini!- Alex's shout disturbed my thoughts.

I shook my head in order to get my act together. The kiss wasn't the thing I should be thinking about now. Now or ever actually.

-And you must be Alex- Bastian said as he kneeled down and shook Alex's hand.

-Alex, why don't you go to the living-room and watch some cartoons on Disney Channel- I suggested hoping my son wouldn't put on a typical stubborn act.

-Mommy but I want to stay with Schweini- Alex squealed like a little cat.

-Honey Bastian can't stay here long. Go watch the cartoon- I tried to convince him while ignoring Bastian staring at me.

-Okay. Bye Schweini- Alex waved at Bastian and lumbered to the leaving room.

-What are you doing here? We weren't suppose to see each other- I said when Bastian stood up.

-Right, well I figured out that we're too old to act this childish and...- Bastian started his speech but didn't get to finish it.

-Childish? I think kissing me was more childish than me trying to avoid the risk of this happening again- I hissed quietly. I didn't want Alex to hear me fighting with Bastian. He might've been my ex-boyfriend but for Alex he was his biggest hero. Irony had to make my son a die-hard Bayern fan.

-This won't happen again. Believe me I can stop myself from kissing you- Bastian replied quietly as a cheeky smile appeared on his face.

-Bastian I don't have time for this. I have a business meeting in 30 minutes and I have no babysitter for Alex so forgive me but...

-I can stay with him- Bastian cut me off and again made my jaw dropped.

-What?

Bastian's POV

-I can take care of Alex while you're going to be on your meeting- I repeated even though I still had no idea why I offered it.

I could see that Claudia didn't like the idea but at the same time I knew she had no other choices. For once I was her only option.

-Fine- she sighed resigned- Alex come here for a second!

Shortly I heard Alex's scurry. The little cherub plunged into the living-room with a huge beam on his face.

-Schweini will take care of me!- he shouted and made a little jump.

Claudia shook her head delicately as a warm smile formed on her face.

-Something tells me you, my little friend were eavesdropping- Claudia said as she lifted Alex and planted a kiss on his cheek.

-Like mother, like son, right Claudia?- I asked and to my surprise Claudia didn't frown at the allusion to our childhood. She simply let out a chuckled and hid her face in Alex's dark hair.

-Okay Alex, mommy has to go now- Claudia put the little copy of her on the floor- Bastian will take care of you and I will be back soon.

-Will Schweini watch Toy Story with me?- Alex asked with hope in his eyes which could make each and every heart melt.

-I don't know. You have to ask Bastian if he can do that- Claudia replied and looked at me. Again no hissing, no snapping. She seemed to be a different person when she was with him. Finally the girl I knew revealed her presence under the cold mask.

-Will you, Schweini?

-Of course I will. We'll watch Toy Story and then we could go outside and play some football- I offered.

-Yes!- Alex exclaimed, quickly ran to me and hugged me.

At first I was a bit surprised but after couple seconds I put my arms around him and lifted him up. As soon as I did that an odd feeling appeared somewhere in my heart. It almost caused some kind of pain I didn't understand. I looked into Claudia's sparkling eyes and I knew she just realized the same thing.

We shouldn't act like strangers, we shouldn't avoid each other. That's not how our future was supposed to look.

This is how it all was supposed to look. Us being together with our child, being happily in love. This should be our life...
