I've been with HOMRA for a week now. Mikoto has been like a father to me. Anne, I've considered her as a sister. Totsuka has been my best friend. Rikio and Izumo has been great friends too. Yata, well, he stopped trying to find out about me. I've thought of him as a friend, but a little part of me wants him to be more than a friend. I don't know, I usually ignore the feeling.
"Did you see his face." Yata laughed as we walked into the bar.
"He was shocked when he learned that I could fight." I snickered. We sat at the bar.
"Izumo two Sprites." Yata called to Izumo. He slid two Sprites down to us. "So what I was telling you before the ass interpreted us, was..."
"Yeah Akene." the bell announced the arrival of Totsuka and following behind him was a little boy, maybe five, with messy chestnut hair and big red eyes. Seeing the kid sparked a memory.
"Who is this." I shook the memory off.
"I-I'm Jun." he answered shyly.
"It's nice to meet you. I'm Akene." I shook his little hand. "This is Yata Misa-"
"Hey, I can introduce myself!" Yata shouted. Jun jumped back surprised. Yata scared the poor kid. I rolled my eyes.
"I was wondering if you guys can watch him for a little while. His mother wanted me to, but I have to go to that meeting today." Totsuka asked. He seemed like he was in a hurry.
"His mother wanted you to. So why the hel-" Yata began to raise his voice again.
"Sure." I cut him off. "We would love to."
"What! I don't wan-" I covered his mouth with my hand. I nodded at Totsuka.
"Great, thanks Akene. You're the best." Totsuka ran out. I took my hand off of Yata's mouth. I hit him across the head. I turned my attention back to Jun.
"What do you want to do?"
"Can we go to the park?" he asked almost in a whisper.
"The park it is." I held Jun's hand and dragged Yata by the arm to the park.
*******
It wasn't that long until we arrived at the park. There were other kids too. Jun let go of my hand and ran off to the swings. I went to sit at one of the park benches. Yata joined me.
"So many kids." he complained.
"Yeah, that's what parks are for." I said sarcastically. I watched some kids run past me. I half smiled to myself. They looked so happy, like there was no care in the world.
"Is that what kids do these days for fun?" Yata gestured to Jun. He was barely moving on the swings. He looked sad.
"I'll be back." I told Yata. "Hey Jun?"
I went to his side.
"Do you want me to push you?" I held onto one of the chains. He shook his head. "Do you want to come sit at the bench and talk?"
Jun nodded. He hopped off the swing and walked with me over to the bench.
"What happened?" Yata asked. I glared at him. "Hey!"
He put his hands up defensively. We sat there in silence for awhile.
"Awe what a cute family." a woman said to her husband as they walked past us. "Awe and their son has his mother's eyes and father's hair."
"We're not a fuc-" I covered Jun's ears from a pissed off Yata. I gestured for him to take a walk. He scoffed but did as I told him. I uncovered Jun's ears. I heard Jun sniffle. I glance down at him.
