"Yay!" I thought as I hauled a huge Pin tree. I set it in the corner next to the dinner table. "Man, that's heavy."

I wiped the sweat off my brow. I had to catch my breath.

Ding Dong!

I heard the door bell go off. I hurried to the door to answer it.

"Hey, Akene." Yata with a happy smile on his face held up a box. Christmas lights, were written in sharpy on the cardboard box.

"Come on in." I welcomed him. "You're just in time."

I led him to where the tree was waiting to be decorated. Yata placed the box on table. He took out a set of ornaments all different color and shapes. Some sparkly, some glass and some plain. There was another set of ornaments that were sweets. Cookies, lollipops and mints.

"Oh, I almost forgot!" I ran to the kitchen's cabinet. I returned with a small box of candy canes. I took some out and hung them on the branches of the tree. Yata hung up the sparkly red crystal balls.

"Akene can you hand me one of the lollipops?" Yata asked.

"Sure, catch!" I lightly threw a ornament.

"N-no, wait." Yata quickly turned around. He caught it, but then it slipped out of his fingers. I tensed up.

"Yata!" I reached my hand out. The ornament froze in mid air.

"Woo!" Yata's eyes were big as saucers. I took a deep breath and move my hand towards the table. I carefully set it down. I pulled my hand away afterwards. I looked at it in amazed, then looked back up at Yata. "Y-you're a strain."

"A strain, what is that?" I asked. It didn't sound good.

"Strains are individuals that have power that was not give by a king." Yata explained.

"Oh, that makes sense." I said.

"We should tell Mikoto." Yata suggested. I nodded.

" Akene, we're coming to your apartment for Christmas." Mikoto decided.

"Sure, why not." I shrugged. Yata and I waked to HOMRA after we finished decorating the tree.

"Mikoto sir, Akene needs to tell you something." Yata nudged me.

"Yata and I just found out that I am a st-"

"Oh, that reminds me, a letter was send to the bar. It was an invitation to Scepter 4's annual New Year's Eve party. So, I went a long and told them that Yata and you were going to attend." Mikoto yet again made a decision with out me knowing.

"A p-party?" Yata didn't sound excited.

"Yeah, you got a problem with that?" Mikoto asked.

"N-no not at all." Yata answered.

"What about you Akene?"

"Yeah, a party. Sounds fun." I said sarcastically.

"Good, then I'll see you at your apartment later." he said as he walked away from us.

"Dammit, I didn't even get to tell him." I said.

"Tell him at the your apartment or when everyone goes home after Christmas." Yata said.

"If I get time to." I thought.

*

"Okay, everything is ready." I checked the dining table. It was full of tasty food. The tree was sparkling with lights, decorations and most importantly a star on the very top. My apartment was all cleaned up. It was all thanks to Yata for helping me.

DING DONG!

I ran to the door to open it.

"Hey, guys." I invited the whole HOMRA in my small apartment.

"Merry Christmas Akene!" everyone said as they entered the room.

"I brought the music!" Totsuka held up his guitar case.

"Sweet!" I cheered. Everyone placed their gifts under the tree, then made themselves at home. Totsuka was strumming Christmas songs. Some people were dancing, other were stuffing their face with sweets or other edible thing that filled the table.

"Yeah Akene, great food!" they complemented.

"Thank Yata, it was all his is doing. I just made it look nice." I said. Anna was checking out the Christmas tree.

"Having fun?" I asked as I walked over to her. She turned to me and nodded.

"Yes." she smiled.

"That's good." I ruffled her hair. Mikoto was grabbing a drink at Izumo's mini bar that he had brought. "I have to go and talk to Mikoto."

I made my way over to him.

"Mikoto, I need to tell you something." I tried to make it sound important.

"What is it?" he asked.

"Well this morning... no what I mean is... umm..." I didn't know how to put it.

"Spit it out kid." Mikoto said inpatient.

"I'm a strain."

"Oh." he seemed surprised or angry. I couldn't tell.

"Mikoto?" I was getting worried.

"That's cool."

"You're not mad?" I asked.

"No, why would I be mad? You're one of us now." he assured. I was relieved.

"Thank god." I thought,

"I guessed you were the first time I met you." he admitted. "I need to tell you, when you're at the New Year's Eve party make sure not to use any of your powers, besides HOMAR's powers if you're in a fight or Scepter 4 will cage you up. They like to know about all that is happening and they don't like strain that much." Mikoto warned.

"Will do." I said. He nodded and went to take a nap until it was time to open up the presents.

"This is great." Yata said.

"It feels good see everyone smiling." I said.

Soon it was time to open presents. Everyone sat around the tree.

"This is for Mikoto, one for Anne, Izumo, Yata, Totsuka..." I handed out gifts.

"Socks, thanks." Mikoto said.

"Thank you Akene." Anne hugged her dolly.

"New shot glasses." Izumo smiled.  Everyone enjoyed their gifts from each other.

"Totsuka, this is for you from me." I handed a box to him. He ripped into it.

"Woo, thanks Akene!" he held up a black video camera.

"It was nothing."

"Akene, this one is from me." Yata handed me along looking thing. I quickly broke through the wrapping paper. It was a black skateboard, orange wheels that lite up and on the back was red flames and white with my name cross  it.

"Thank you." I hugged Yata. He blushed deep red. Everyone laughed.  "I guess I should give yours back."

I went into the closest and grabbed Yata's skateboard.

"Here I'm done browning it." I handed it over to him. He smirked. I rolled my eyes.

"Hey, everyone let's sing jingle bells." Totsuka suggested. Everyone agreed.

"Jingle bells, jingle bell. Jingle all the way. Oh, what fun it is to ride in a one house open sleigh..."

As we song a smile, a true smile, formed on my face.

"This was it, family. Merry Christmas."
