That morning was gloomy which didn't surprise you. With the rainy weather from the night before it was only bound to happen. The gloom cleared out around the time you had to leave to meet Akashi at the cafe specified. It was a beautiful day, nice and cool yet sunny.  You dressed in something comfortable that let you feel the weather. A t-shirt and a pair of jeans that you put a jacket over. You had even freshened up and looked much better compared to yesterday.

You leave after making sure that Haru had medicine and had lunch ready for him. You didn't want to leave him to fend for himself when he was still sick. He kept trying to shoo you out of the house and insisted you were going on a date, which you weren't. If it was you would have dressed up a little more. You barely put any make-up on.

You made your way to the cafe, checking your phone for any messages occasionally. You don't know why but you felt like you should be expecting a message. Maybe because you were hoping for Akashi to call off this meet up. As you walk up to the cafe you spot a young man with startling bright red hair and recognise him as the one in the picture that had Kise with him.

"He wasn't just some creep... Maybe..." You mumble as you walk in.

He looks up as you walk in and feel his eyes pull you in. They were just as red as his hair, and held such a sense of authority and confidence in them. There was something about him that was familiar and it bothered you that you couldn't place it.

"Ah, you made it. I was beginning to worry." He says with a faint smile as he hands you a menu.

You glance at the time on your phone. 10:56. You were actually early. By four minutes but early. It made you wonder how long he had been there before you showed up. He did give you the impression he was the type to worry about being on time even to little things like this meet up.

"I got held up." You say as you pull up a seat.

"That's alright. Order anything you want, I'm paying." He says as he tells a waitress his order.

You nod and do the same, ordering a sliver of pie, a sandwich and some coffee, "I have something I'd like to know, Akashi-kun."

"What is it [Name]-san?" He looks at you as you handed your menu to the waitress.

"How do you know me? I don't think we've ever met before."

He goes wide eyed a moment before smiling as if defeated, "I was afraid of that. You really don't remember me."

Your turn to be surprised, "How could I remember you? We've never met before. Though, you seem to know me..."

"You had an accident when you left here after junior high."

You blink confused.  Accident? I would remember such a thing. You sit there and try to recall any time you were in an accident.  Nothing came to mind.  You've always had poor memory when consciously recalling things. They always just came to you before.

"You wouldn't remember. You hit your head quite hard. Your father held on for a bit but he didn't make it. Haru was away so he wasn't with you guys at the time." Akashi spoke with a haunted expression, like he knew every detail.

"So I have amnesia? Okay but how does that have to do with you?"

"We are cousins. We used to play together when we were little, before my mom passed away and yours went off the fight in the war."

"My mom was in the war?"

"Yeah. She died in battle. Your dad never told you?"

You shake your head, everything was starting to make sense now. How Haru avoided certain subjects sometimes, how you forgot or were unable to remember certain things, or even when you suddenly remembered Ki who you ended up seeing again. You didn't realise it was him at first because you didn't remember him. You held your head. All the thinking made it hurt.
