{Hurt - Gabrielle Aplin}
...You know it's never gonna work, there's things that you can't see, you're way too close to me, this one's gonna hurt...
----
June 30th
The midnight air was quiet around us as I listened to the sound of Elliot breathing beside me, my head resting on his naked chest as he wrapped a tired arm around me, both of us vulnerable and yet never more comfortable with each other. Somehow I thought that losing my 'virginity' would be like some liberation, that I would finally be a woman.
I felt the same.
We had lain together in comfortable silence when the conversation after sleeping together had lulled to a tired back and forth.
"What is it with you and staring up at me like that?" I could hear Elliot chuckling slightly, but I didn't care that I was staring.
I was lying in his arms, clothed in nothing but the sheet that covered us. I couldn't care less if I was staring.
"Would you rather I stared at your crotch or something?" The light-heartedness in my tone surprised him as he glanced down at me, his eyes wide with disbelief.
"Well it is a sight to behold, I'll give you that--" The smug smirk of Elliot Black made a dashing return on his face, his mouth curling up slightly at one side.
"You arrogant little shit," I immediately retaliated. I didn't deny it, but I wasn't going to give him the satisfaction of letting him think he was a Greek god.
"Hey, you love me though, so it's all good," His shoulders shrugged, disrupting my comfortable position as I sat up, tugging the sheet up to cover me.
"Ahh, you caught me there," I laughed, running a hand through my tangled hair. "Hey what time is it?"
"Don't ask me. I think your phone is on the floor with your dress." His eyebrow raised suggestively as his mind took him back to the moment when the dress fell to the floor, his eyes taking in every inch of my body. It was exhilarating if not a little terrifying watching him do that. Still, after that night, I could have watched his roaming eyes forever.
A loud knock them came from the door making both Elliot and I jump to our feet, scrambling for each article of clothing we had so carelessly ripped off of one another hours before.
"Where is my bra?" I whispered, holding the sheet around my body like a tunic as Elliot pulled on his boxers and a pair of joggers, struggling himself to find a clean shirt that didn't have my lipstick-stained on the collar.
"There!" He spoke in a semi hushed tone as he pointed out where he had thrown my bra with such urgency, as I tugged it back on hurriedly and slipped back into my dress, my heart in my throat. With that, Elliot opened the door, both of us out of breath and looking sheepish.
"Hey!" Poppy grinned as she welcomed herself in, immediately heading for the bed to sit on. No. Oh, God, no.
"Poppy!" I squealed, pulling her in for a hug as Elliot tugged at the incriminating sheets, pulling them from the mattress as he bundled them into a corner.
Poppy hugged me tightly, her friendly nature not taking my affectionate embrace as odd behaviour. As I reluctantly released her from my grasp, Elliot and I eyed her as she sat on the bed.
"I should have known you two would have been together. I just wanted to let you know that I did as you guys wanted me to."
"With Benjamin?" Elliot asked through gritted teeth. Ever since Benjamin's antics, his loathing for the boy had doubled, understandably so.
